The thing is, no one is ever taught how to deal with the unusual or unexpected.
Some people are too embarrassed to ask so avoid eye contact.
Some are freaked.
Some are openly curious, so ask.
I don't know what the right approach is, but I would probably do the latter. Politely.
@tricyclemayor
Agreed. But curiosity, done sensitively, is a good thing.
I'm not defending the way you were treated, not minimising the distress it caused you. I'm truly sorry if I gave that impression. But I do think talking to people can be better than shunning them. Just that.

I'm truly not trying to be contrary nor support the actions of the person who asked the inappropriate question. My point is that there needs to be discussion of how people would like to be treated.
I respect the positions offered. It's mostly helpful to understand.
I shun no-one.
When I was awarded MVP status last year I was chuffed.
Receiving a second elevates this to 'reet chuffed'.
Very pleased indeed to be part of this terrific community for another year.
Congratulations to all new and renewed MVPs. You make a difference!

Yes, she has. It's also not the point I was making.
I'm struggling to understand why people find it so hard to separate her terrible experience from a general observation about people not always knowing how to behave. It's not like I was saying it was fine; quite the contrary.
Today I am three times chuffed having been awarded MVP status again.
It's always an honour to be recognised by the community for what we do; but it's even more special that I get to contribute alongside so many brilliant, inspirational people.

You are absolutely right.

Yep. But as much profit as you get from the ice cream? I'm no restauranteur (as you have probably figured!), bit it's all down to the profit per side. Fruit needs buying every day and then inconveniently goes off. Ice cream obligingly sites in the freezer for weeks.

The trick is to do all the other important stuff, reduce emissions etc, so we can have these kinds of celebrations without guilt.

Wouldn't it be nice if we abandoned gender stereotypes entirely. Excellence, STEM, learning are not girl / boy things, they are people / fulfillment things.
Absolutely we need to create equality, but gender equality is a milestone not the end goal.

Actually, when I was researching it, slightly older cars were noticeably heavier. Manufacturers have been bringing weight down to improve efficiency.
They did get heavier a decade or so ago as safety regulations required impact protection

It's a valid question.
The reality is that everything humans do has an impact.
Mining & manufacture of batteries is tiny compared with fossil fuel extraction, refining & distribution.
Over 90% of battery materials are recycled & reused.

How does encouraging people to drive and EV persuade them not to have a car? I'm struggling to find your logic.
Why would the government do that when there are 800,000 people employed in the automotive industry? I'm struggling to understand the motivation.

If it has been around during the 100 year war it would have only lasted a week. Sadly, there were supply chain issues that prevented it being ready in time

I'm not sure what happened to Journalism as a profession. Specifically when it stopped expecting journalists to be professional. Checking facts, not lying, that kind of thing.
You expect it of the gutter press, but
@Telegraph
,
@guardian
et al used to be frequently respectable.
@gunsnrosesgirl3
Here goes.
Centrifugal (not centripetal in this case, but I'm not sure) acts against the wine. The wine glass is narrower towards the neck, so the wine would have an increase in angular velocity to move towards the neck. The system is at its lowest energy state as shown.

@editingemily
Nah. In England we pronounce epic as
"eh-pick"
No one, absolutely no one, would pronounce it "eh-pukh" or anything else that has no 'i' in it.
Epoch has a certain amount of flexibility, depending on where in the UK you are from.
😁
Exactly.
I initially thought
#hydrogen
would be an important domestic transport & heating fuel.
Then I looked at the data, the physics & how it's made. I made a 170° turn (there are some use cases).
Claims that it's a wonder fuel are laughable.
Facts > opinions
Physics.
Basic fundamental physics killed the hydrogen car.
The poor efficiency, high complexity, high capital, maintenance and running costs that all killed the hydrogen car, and trucks, and ships, and domestic heating too are down to basic physics.
