@bryan_caplan Not my experience, Bryan. I suspect few in my field (hydrology, water resources, hydropower engineering) would agree with you here. Are you sure you can extrapolate your experience in social sciences to all fields of science/academia?

@GaryMarcus @tylercowen @DeryaTR_ @colin_fraser @sayashk I subscribed to GPTpro on the basis of Tyler’s enthusiasm. I’m disappointed. It’s no better than Claude or DeepSeek. I’ve reverted to Claude for the pyo3 Rust program I’m working on. Deep Research is cool but the answers need to be checked rigorously as they contain a lot of BS.
