Spiking will be made a criminal offence. My government was elected to take back our streets, central to this mission is making sure women and girls can feel safe at night. Perpetrators of spiking will feel the full force of the law.

This is the most honest and well thought through position on immigration that we have seen from a party leader ā¦ ever.
"We have to make sure that we have a dominant culture in our country and the people who move here want to make it a better place. Our country is not a hotelā. @KemiBadenoch. Agree, more needs to be done to root out āevil habitsā among communities not interested in integration.

This is what happens when you donāt put in the ground work on policyā¦ donāt accept when the other side did something that worked ā¦ and decide to appease the Unions.
EXCL: Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson is under pressure from No10 over schools academy reforms. No10 said to be shocked by scale of the backlash to the Bill. No10 deny a rift. But Govt insiders says Bridget is "in the dog house" .

Tim you are right. Tory failure in Govt led to the election loss. But the answer is not to throw in with a new party that will divide the right. The answer is to usher in a new generation for the Conservative Party. where we learn mistakes from the past. which means NOT.
Patrick is a good friend and a good man but he mustnāt get away with this. Massive Tory failure was the number one driver for Labour returning to power. Centre right voters were loyal to the Conservatives for a long time but after 14 years of higher taxes, higher energy prices.

This speaks volumes ā¦ the Labour inheritance on education was remarkable. Children more numerate, literate and more able than any generation before them. But Labour wonāt say thatā¦ because it doesnāt suit their narrative.
There has been virtually radio silence from DfE about the great figures today showing English children are the best at maths in the western world. Just because it doesnāt fit their narrative doesnāt mean they shouldnāt celebrate it. Our teachers and pupils deserve better.

This tweet has really gone through my mind - the Houthi flag is a collection of statements including āDeath to America, Death to Israel, A Curse Upon the Jewsā . ā¦ Zara Sultana was a central component in the Corbynification of the Labour Party and its deteriorating relationship.

This is an important story. Itās also the tip of the iceberg. While I was at DfE, I witnessed senior civil servants being anti-Tory, anti-Boris, anti-Brexit, anti-monarchy (on the death of the Queen), and anti- lots of things that didnāt fit their world view.
While in DfE I personally saw an attempt by officials to remove an external adviser for expressing gender critical views. The attempt was less sophisticated than the 'hit job' against Falkner, but used very similar means and language. Thread.

Harris students outperform the average by a distance. Iāve met disadvantaged kids who have gone to Cambridge and Oxford, often the first in their family to univ, because of Harris.
27% of teachers left Harris schools at the end of summer term 2023 . Teacher retention at Harris has been in the bottom 10% of MATs for 9 of the last 10 years. This is bad news for young people and education. Not a source to be celebrated by the Leader of Opposition.

I have worked on this since arriving at DfE. Soft support services in local communities could really be the difference for families in trouble. Family Hubs could reduce pressure on acute services, and boost outcomes for disadvantaged children and families.
The government is investing Ā£300 million to roll out more Family Hubs, so more parents can access the support they need to raise a child.

This is utterly insane. The bill strips academies of freedoms that drove higher standards. Youāre dumbing down the curriculum. And the massive cost saving you talk about ā¦involves ā¦ stricter rules on uniforms!. The real cost to parents will be children attending weaker.
This week, Parliament turns to the Childrenās Wellbeing & Schools Bill ā to make child-centred government a reality. šš» Driving high & rising school standards. šš» Cutting costs for parents. šš» Stopping vulnerable children falling through the cracks.

Which lasted 5 years before they voted him back in to government in 1951 (and where the Tories remained for the next 14 years).
As soon as those courageous British soldiers who fought Nazism came home, they voted to kick Winston Churchill out of office in favour of the most radical Labour government in history.

A great opportunity for many of our amazing members to feed in to changes that will inevitably take place at CCHQ. Our party is nothing without its members. The party has taken its activist base for granted for too long. Change starts now.
At the last election, our Party let you down. If we want to win, we need to change. Part of that change is listening to our members. Be honest with me, how can our Party change?. Take my survey:

I and others having been saying this for months. There is still time. the Government can change their plansā¦. By increasing the threshold, making exemptions for farming families or just scrapping the change altogether.
New data on farms and inheritance tax: a third of farm estates over Ā£1.5m arenāt farmers but wealthy people avoiding IHT by sinking money into farmland. The Budget hits farmers too hard and tax avoiders too lightly. It needs to change.
