🚨Big News🚨Proud to be here as
@SuellaBraverman
announces what I’ve been pushing for - with PCC colleagues - to end policing as ‘degree only’ career agreed. On the job police training is to return as alternative to degrees - getting street savvy officers on front line quicker👍🏻
Almost like it was a totally viable deterrent that was on the cusp of coming into full effect…
And now Germany benefits from the investment the UK made, simply so Labour could make a PR stunt to please their voter base.
Perfect example of worst of what has happened in parts of media around the sensitive & complex search for Nicola Bulley
Superintendent Smith is a detective so doesn’t wear uniform. She’s also more on her mind than what a clickbait journalist thinks of her choice of office wear.
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith at press conference yesterday - skin tight navy dress, stilettos, poker straightened hair - whatever happened to a cop uniform! Or is she auditioning for Love Island for midlifers. Show some respect for a missing mother!
Proud to join 15 other Police Commissioners writing to the Home Secretary asking for common sense to prevail and her to reinstate none-degree entry routes in to the police. Being a frontline cop cannot, and should not, be a graduate only profession.
What an incredible, life changing morning…Meet our beautiful little Walt Snowden 🥰
Walter Andrew Snowden born today, 4th May, at 11:03am and weighing 7lb 6oz - Caz is doing amazingly well, as she always does.
May the Fourth be with you, son.
Well, May ‘21 changed our lives when I was elected Commissioner but May ‘22 will be even more wonderfully life-changing as we will welcome a Mini-Snowden to the world.
I am going to be a DAD 🥰
Happy new year everyone xxx
In May
#TeamTory
won control of Lancashire County Council. We’ve already put £1million to restore bus routes Labour cut, re-opened Libraries they closed, put £5.6million a year into highways, all whilst closing annual deficit Labour left behind by over £40million. Here’s to 2018!
I was sorry to see Priti not get through on MPs votes last week.
It's clear
@KemiBadenoch
has the conviction & courage to lead us in Opposition, and get cut-though with voters.
As the clear choice of Conservative members, supporting her &
@renewal2030
is the right thing to do.
An emotional day paying respects to
@LancsPolice
Assistant Chief Constable Peter Lawson, with his family, friends and colleagues. A big turnout from across the North West.
His wife, Jayne, and his close friend and colleague Richard, did him proud. Many tears, but many smiles.
After knocking on over 6,000 doors, my voice is breaking - but it held out long enough to swear my allegiance and formally join the House of Commons tonight.
I am incredibly proud and humbled to have been elected to represent such a wonderful area.
After
@pritipatel
launched my PCC campaign back in 2019 in Lancashire, it was lovely for her to personally welcome me to Parliament today.
Two photos, five years apart.
Honoured and excited, as a proud Lancastrian, to be selected as the
@Conservatives
Parliamentary Candidate for Fylde.
I’ve made major investments in Fylde as both Police Commissioner and previously as a Lead Member for Highways and Transport.
I am ready to Fight for Fylde💪🏻
Thank you to everyone across Fylde who voted for me last yesterday, I will repay your trust by working tirelessly for you.
In was a difficult night but also a huge and humbling moment in my life - which i was so grateful to have my wife, mum and step dad by my side for.
Thank you to everyone who voted and supported me across Lancashire, but today wasn’t our day.
I am proud of my record as Commissioner, but could not have done it without the work of so many amazing Officers and staff in the Constabulary, whose bravery and service is inspiring.
This morning I was devastated to be informed that
@LancsPolice
Assistant Chief Constable, Pete Lawson, had died at home.
ACC Lawson represented the very best of policing. He embodied the values of service, duty and integrity. It has been an honour to have worked with him.

Thank you, Lancashire. I will repay your trust with a unrelenting determination to crack down on criminals from anti-social behaviour to county lines gangs, to make Lancashire safer.
BREAKING: Conservative
@A_J_Snowden
is the new Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire after securing 181,000 votes.
He beat Labour’s Clive Grunshaw who got 172,000 votes.
My thoughts are with Nicola’s family and friends at a difficult time. I’d like to thank the
@LancsPolice
officers and staff working on scene and across the Force. Please can we see respect and privacy for Nicola’s family and friends and the Police as they go about their work.
This morning, Sunday, 19 February, you may be aware of police activity around the river near to St Michaels. We want to provide you with an update on that activity.
We were called today at 11:36am to reports of a body in the River Wyre, close to Rawcliffe Road.
Ending my first week in Parliament, looking at Labour’s first actions in Government:
🥀Cancel Rwanda scheme
🥀Kill bids for North Sea oil
🥀Release prisoners I helped get behind bars as Police Commissioner
It’s been galvanising, rallying us to unite & fight them as opposition.
A privilege to be able to raise this important, personal issue as part of my Maiden Speech and pay tribute to Caroline’s bravery.
There is no need to suffer in silence. We’ve been there, thousands of people have been there - and
@CrohnsColitisUK
are there for you.
Thank you
@A_J_Snowden
for using your maiden speech in Parliament to share your wife Caroline's experience of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
We look forward to working with you and other MPs to tackle stigma and raise awareness of invisible conditions like Crohn's and Colitis.
God bless Lancashire, where we would rather get Coronavirus than eat vegetarian sausages.
Keeping some perspective up
North. It’s bad. But not that bad
As another heart wrenching day for Nicola’s family starts, and a difficult day for those working on the case - a reminder of call for respect, and to give her family and friends privacy to deal with what the day brings, and Police space to do their job.
Well, that’s that. Time to update my CV…
Thank you so much for all the messages and comments over the past few days. I will get round to responding to everyone.
But for now, time for a some goodbye 🍺 with my team.
Hate to be a smug git....WHAT A YEAR TO HAVE BOUGHT A

@BowkerBMW
- Ignore the burnt head, I’ve found out over past few months that is a side effect for people with skin like mine 😂
I am humbled & proud to have been selected tonight, at a meeting of Members from Lancashire, Blackburn & Blackpool, to be the
@Conservatives
Candidate for Lancashire’s Police & Crime Commissioner at 2020 elections.
#LancashireDeservesBetter
than what we have. So let’s win this!
A proud moment; unanimously re-selected as the
@Conservatives
candidate for Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner in next May’s elections, by the Lancashire Area Committee tonight.
I outlined the raft of achievements from the past few years and my plans for four more years.
34 years ago my grandparents drove their first lorry of support parcels to an orphanage in Romania.
Today the charity is still going strong, supporting many children. It was lovely that the first tour of Parliament I have hosted is for them.
I wish my grandparents could see 💙
Whilst congratulating our new
@Conservatives
Leader & PM,
@trussliz
, it is also a moment to applaud the energy, passion & downright hard graft the unstoppable Lancs MP
@Andrew4Pendle
has shown as Party Chairman over summer…Britain’s been introduced to another
#LancashireLegend
Well, Twitter friends. Walter is now operationally independent…Eyes in back of our head time 🥰😬🥰
PS: Thanks for all touching and kind messages encouraging me to keep posting about me as a person and what I love and enjoy, on this my personal account…If you know, you know.
Back in Lancashire, after first days in Parliament - and reunited with Mrs Snowden.
Time for a quick pint, before freshening up and heading to an event in Lytham.
Pleased to say that Walter LOVES his present from Parliament and has made up with me for not being home this week.
Although
@LindsayHoyle_MP
would rightly view his choice of ‘Chair’ as a bit of a downgrade!
Catching up with the unstoppable
@CllrTigerPatel
today - talking about the 5 arrests made in his patch recently and Tiger’s backing for the police in cracking down on criminal.
Meeting with
@KemiBadenoch
to discuss the King’s Speech and the key areas we will need to scrutinise as the Official Opposition.
Clear there will be bad news for economic growth and future prosperity and we need to support and fight for our businesses and employers.
Peter came into my life nearly 2 decades ago, eventually becoming my step grandad. He was Labour through and through. We had many debates + lots of banter and laughs. He always used to say ‘you not wearing a red tie?’. So today Peter - just for you.
RIP, I will really miss you x
As I expressed my sadness last night, without revealing the information to anyone who didn’t already know, a truly sad day for
@LancsPolice
family.
My thoughts are with Richard’s family, colleagues and friends. An inspirational officer taken far, far too soon.
Take care x
Big news today as promised -
@LancsPolice
to scrap the baseball caps introduced for officers several years ago. I’ve never liked them and I’m glad to see them go and a return to smarter, more appropriate uniform for our police officers, befitting of figures of authority they are.
🎩Good news👮Traditional police hats are set for a comeback in Lancashire after Andrew and
@LancsPolice
Chief Constable Chris Rowley decided to scrap baseball caps for all officers and PCSOs.
The rationale is that they're smarter and more professional - do you agree?
Flying the flag for Lancashire this evening at Number 10. Really nice that Rishi invited Caz to join me - a truly lovely touch to be able to bring someone who does so much to support me in my role.
Tonight’s tea, nearly ready.
Someone actually *officially* complained that I put a picture, on this my personal account, of us having a steak for tea as a treat…So here’s another, with wine we brought back from France last year.
Don’t ever let the Twitter trolls beat you 💪🏻
A glorious day out and about across rural Fylde, talking about important issues affecting our countryside - from the huge concerns about the proposed windfarm cable corridor and substation, to how I can support our farming community if elected.
Great news as latest progress announced on recruiting the 20,000 officers. Lancashire making big progress with 435 of new officers recruited & in training.
But we are going above our share of 20k by funding even more locally to build visible police front line we all want to see.
This is my mum. I wouldn’t be Commissioner without her.
She supported me when she didn’t have pennies to rub together, caring for my sister with epilepsy & her own battle with anaemia.
She made sure homemade food on table, its always a pleasure to return favour. Love ya mum x
RESULT! Ladies & Gents, I give you Councillor Caroline Snowden. In 48 hours she’s become a mum and an elected representative!
Thank you to everyone in Helmshore who voted & campaigned for her. Am so very proud. Full Result:
Labour 701
Green 219
Conservative 892
Independent 101
Ahead of target. Leading the way nationally. Again 👍🏻
Just need
@SuellaBraverman
to end ‘degree only entry to policing’ so we can actually get the Officers on frontline and fighting crime, with the practical experience needed, as quickly as possible.
Breakfast meeting with the Leader, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth of
@LancashireCC
earlier - before catching the train to London.
Securing investment into Fylde, to support economic growth, is a top priority for me - great to have opportunity to discuss.
It was a proud moment to speak for Fylde in Parliament for the first time today.
I used the moment to highlight the devastation the Morgan & Morecambe wind farm plans will cause if they go ahead - and to ask the government to work with me to get a more appropriate cabling route.
A very special first Walter Christmas at our little cottage today…sending the warmest Christmas wishes and love from our family to you and yours.
PS: Heidi (our beloved dog) has not been forgotten, she is ‘guarding’ the Turkey🤣
Honoured to have formally opened Blackpool Pride with the Mayor today.
Although nearly didn’t make it after
@PCIanAshton
tried to take me out with a rather heavy flag 😬
I will miss Pete and Lancashire has lost a dedicated and capable public servant. He had such an incredible intellect and insight, a calm and reassuring presence - and that sharp wit and warming smile
My thoughts are with his wife, family, friends and the wider police family
2/2
Thanks to everyone from my
@LancsPCC
Office - for their lovely welcome for Walter today and the very cool presents…he’s all set and ready to join me on some raids with
@LancsPolice
now!
Good luck to everyone receiving thier exam results today - if you give
@SalfordUni
clearing hotline a ring - I am one of the many staff volunteers helping guide applicants to the right choices for them today.
Was here to meet the first voters at 7am, of which there was a queue of eager people…It’s been a thoroughly enjoyable campaign, don’t forget to get out and vote!
❌PENSIONER BUS PASSES NOW UNDER THREAT AS LABOUR VOTE TO CUT WINTER FUEL ALLOWANCE❌
I’ve just voted to save the winter fuel allowance - and Labour voted to cut it. But unbelievably a Minister at the desptatch box refused to rule out cutting free buses for pensioners 🤬
Lovely to catch up with
@pritipatel
tonight. She’s been such an amazing leader to work with over many years.
Proud to be retuning the support she showed me, as I fought to become Police Commissioner - and the work we did together to take the fight to organised crime.
£2million extra funding for Lancashire to tackle ASB hotspots.
This will fund increased patrols &police presence, which is what Lancashire resident want to see.
Thanks to
@CPhilpOfficial
&
@SuellaBraverman
for listening to my & other’s ideas on how we get tough on this blight
🚨£2m boost towards tackling ASB in Lancashire
Andrew has welcomed today's announcement from Government that
#Lancashire
is set to benefit from funding to tackle ASB.
💪Additional resources for ASB hot spot areas

Lovely to introduce Walter to
@SarBritcliffeMP
and
@antony_hig
- two great friends who our little Walt was instantly at ease and happy with.
A good judge of character is our Walt 🥰
One photo, three generations 🥰

There’s mischief and memories to be had between these three musketeers!
Fantastic to meet
@BorisJohnson
&
@pritipatel
today to discuss the Beating Crime Plan and how we will work together to give at
@LancsPolice
the powers and resources needed to crack down on criminals - from antisocial behaviour to county lines drug gangs.
Since elected I’ve been working with Officers on ideas to make
@LancashireCC
a leader in support for Crohn's & Colitis. I’ve drawn up a motion to Full Council, which if Cllrs vote for will mandate the Council to deliver on for all those living with the condition.
#ForCaroline
Off out on a date night with the stunning Mrs Snowden…celebrating 9 years of marriage 🥰
PS: The necklace is the first piece of jewellery I bought her (over ten years ago) - a thoughtful touch by an amazing woman as always 💋

So good for the soul to enjoy time with friends. Covid has cost a lot, big and small, and human interaction - smiles, laughter & cooking for people, I have missed.
Lovely to have
@SarBritcliffeMP
and
@antony_hig
over for dinner after yet another Saturday of grafting for us all.
Thank you, Prime Minister!
I recently met
@RishiSunak
& had opportunity to thank him for the £2million we are getting to tackle ASB Hotspots in our County.
This is recognition of work already underway with
@SuellaBraverman
&
@CPhilpOfficial
to deal with ASB in Lancashire.
Today we said goodbye to my grandma. As I said in my Eulogy on behalf of the family; ‘We say our goodbyes with tears in our eyes but with smiles on our lips as we remember the legacy she leaves behind from here to Romania: A thread of love that connects us to her now and forever’
🚨I’ve secured £1.7million for tackling anti social behavior in Lancashire🚨
This is ON TOP of the £1.5million I put in the budget next year…meaning our neighbourhood policing budget will now grow by £3.2 million next year alone, to tackle ASB.
Humbling to meet Byron of
@JJeffect18
tonight. His story and the difference he is making just compels you to want to make a difference. Such a deserving award winner from
@BBCLancashire
tonight in his crusade to tackle knife crime and violence, using his own experiences.
Huge thanks to everyone who’s been covering ground for me across Fylde today, in all weather!
Tomorrow’s the big day - if you don’t want a Labour government with a huge majority - then you can only stop it by voting Conservative in Fylde.
Thanks to everyone for all the lovely messages following me announcing veteran police officer and charity leader,
@AndyPenwortham
, as my Deputy. This pic really just shows how ready we are to get on with fighting crime and protecting commuters together!
As Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner I would like to wish everyone over the border, living in the second best County in the Country, a very happy Runners Up Day.
#YorkshireDay2022

PS: Don’t let Hebden Bridge born Mrs Snowden see this 😬
NEWS JUST IN - Start your Friday with some good news,
@LancsPolice
has been inspected and the proactive approach of taking the fight to organised crime gangs through Op Warrior, has been praised.
Huge thanks to all officers and staff who make this happen
I shed a good few tears yesterday for Cllr Keith Iddon. Was a privilege to serve as his Lead Member for 4 years on
@LancashireCC
A true gentleman who never let politics get in way of doing the right thing & who made me & many laugh countless times.
Gone too soon, RIP Keith x
Delighted for
@AndyPenwortham
- Awarded an MBE for years of charity & volunteer work after he retired in 2010 from a distinguished career in
@LancsPolice
A true selfless and devoted public servant - so glad he’s been recognised this way 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Got a full on Love Actually vibe being kindly invited to Number 10 for Christmas drinks with Caz 🎄❤️
Great opportunity to be festive, but also talk some shop on how we are using the extra £millions invested by the government into Lancashire policing 👍🏻
Great morning in Blackpool welcoming
@pritipatel
to Lancashire; meeting officers & staff of
@LancsPolice
& Project Adder team - with £millions of support from Gov to take fight to organised crime & support the vulvernable and those with addictions to a better & crime-free life.
Humbling to be at National Police Bravery Awards tonight with our two
@lancspolice
finalists - PC’s Simon Wheeler and Paul Roger - who entered a burning building without protective equipment and saved a man’s life. No matter the outcome tonight you are already
#LancashireHeroes
Humbling to attend

As the public’s voice in policing - a huge thank you from every law-abiding person i represent👍🏻
