Although I had stepped down, I would acknowledge this was not the result we wanted. I will always be hugely grateful for the opportunity to represent Bury St Edmunds as its first female MP. I want to wish @PeterPrinsley all the best in representing this fantastic part of Suffolk.

I hope he will hold the government to account in ensuring the speedy delivery the new West Suffolk hospital and driving investment into our wonderful towns and villages.

Lovely to chat to these folks in #BuryStEdmunds this morning bringing their vehicles into town as part of the commemorations for #DDay80. Veterans will gather later in the Cathedral for the @PoppyLegion service of commemoration.

We must never forget the sacrifice and courage of the members of our armed services who then and now fight to keep us free. We keep in our prayers those that paid the ultimate price.
