@bafasbender Yes, there was a lot of work done to it to be able to hang it from the ceiling. One of the wings removed all the hydraulics pulled gear assemblies pulled and repainted.

The 53rd weather reconnaissance squadrons flight into the eye of #HurricaneFranklin. Talk about B.A.

@Pro_Nuke From what I've read that's exactly the situation. Flew from O'Hare to Meigs under a 10-minute flight. WIth minimum fuel, 40 degrees of flaps, and a naval-esq landing it's impressive what the 27 can do.

@DougCarlisle Oh for sure. I've seen videos of 27s landing under 4k ft, min fuel 40 degrees, and planting it. Piece of cake, the 727 was a unit.

She tried, she really did. Unfortunately, Mother Nature was a little shy this evening. Here's our tornado for the day. #ilwx

@thenewarea51 It's all smoke and mirrors. The real warhead passed through 6 hours ago in the trunk of a 1996 Toyota Avalon. You have to play chess when the enemy is playing checkers.

@Factschaser Most of the time when an airbag doesn't deploy in a crash it's not because it was supposed to, it's because it wasn't supposed to. Sometimes an airbag in the wrong place at the wrong time will do more damage to occupants then if they all deployed in any crash.

@DrChrisCombs Its wild people have convinced themselves of this, meanwhile, a $600+ billion USD industry is unfolding in front of them.

@Factschaser Source: "Trust me, bro, I'm a *facts chaser*" . Read about why airbags for rear occupants are designed not to deploy in FEC crashes. Mr "Facts Chaser".

@BronaghTumulty Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. Pretty average price for a downtown Chicago restaurant and bar. They have an awesome retro arcade bar as well that you should check out.

@thenewarea51 @RiggerBunny @Rocketman2141 @F111Driver This is a drogue and attached slug/chute bag. After ejecting a "drogue gun" fires a pyrotechnic which extracts the drogue chute which in turn extracts the main chute from the pilot's chute bag. The drogue and chute bag then cut their connection after the main chute deploys.

@Space_Strategy Despite SLS being a ridiculous spiral of out-of-control spending and continually slipping deadlines I gotta give SLS this one. Superheavy is unproven, SLS is flight-proven and crew-rated. Until Superheavy is crew rated its the best we got.

Mach diamonds, within mach diamonds, within mach diamonds. @considercosmos blessing our eyes again. Someone do a CFD on that flow and send me a video when your computer melts.

@avgeekmason @wxrjm @thenewarea51 From a tower visit to KARR. You can probably give the tower at MKC a call on bad weather *weekday* and they'd be more than happy to flash some light guns. Training usually occurs on weekdays, and the new guys don't get much practice with them.

@volcaholic1 Yea if I saw a bottomless hole in the ground, the last thing I'm doing is starting to stomp on the ground surrounding it. Darwin Award.

@TeamCharleston @MCASBeaufortSC My $800 phone has Find-My-Iphone. But there's no Find-My-F35, on a $80 million jet?.

Significant shift back West in the latest model guidance for #Idalia. Still, a *very* fluid situation, and these shifts can continue to oscillate in either direction. From Pensacola to Tampa, be prepared for the worst.

@MCCCANM Get your medical before anything else. 1 in 10 men have a color deficiency (I was one), took nearly 2 years, dozens of letters and calls, and a lot of time to get a clean first class. More then happy to help anyone here who might need a SODA or OCVT cert.

@CSI_Starbase Yup, CRS-1. At T+ 79 seconds, the fuel dome above the #1 engine ruptured and caused a failure of the #1 engine fairing. Still made a nominal orbit insertion and the mission was successful, just a little longer burn for the other 8 engines.

@chan_lambda @SpoxSpace So while the thrust puck and Octaweb are mounted symmetrical, the engines are offset on the outside of each part of the Octaweb to allow enough clearance for the gas generator between each engine.

Wow, in just 12 hours we went from little if any agreement between global models and CAMs to solid across-the-board agreement. Will be watching this like a hawk, but it looks increasingly likely we will be in for a real doozy! . Get ready Chicago! .#ilwx
