So I've been on social media break since about Nov. As far as tech updates, I got another 10k raise when I hit my 6 month mark a few weeks ago. Also another title change, now Implementation Consultant. 23k salary increase since I entered tech in July. Do it.

I got 3 raises for a total of a 35K increase within 1 year. I deserved it but I think I set the tone by initiating the first review and asking for a raise at 60 days in. They knew what was up afterwards. Don't be afraid to set the tone.

3) Fine point focus. I had thought cloud security was my way to tech but realized I didn’t have to lose my love of client & internal engagements to work in tech. Adjusted my remaining courses in school to match. Now I’m more focused within tech but also enjoying cloud.

I've been out the country for PTO. Before I left, I got a promotion to a role that I wasn't expecting. I got notified while on PTO that I got a 15k raise and 11.2k addition to my equity. That's 35k in raises within a 1yr of being in tech. Get in. Put in work.

It's very easy to get caught up in success stories on social media. Don't think all companies are the same or all journeys will be the same. It took me 6 months to break into tech. I was looking at this time last yr and didn't get a job until July. Success is not instant.

Startups shouldn't be slept on. A startup gave me a shot and said, hey, you can explore here and grow in whatever direction you want and we'll support. Of all the places I interviewed, this was the only one offering me knowledge beyond my role.

Now that I've passed my 6 month mark in tech, I'm working on my transition to a more technical role. I got in the way I knew how, utilize my customer facing/soft skills and project management experience. Now that I'm in, I can easily transition to the department I want to be in.

You know, people should look at implementation roles in tech. Easy to get into if you have PM experience and great for gaining PM experience if you don’t have PM experience. Excellent opportunity to jump into client facing work. But I’m not in tech so don’t ask me about it.🌚

I'm not an expert in the game and I'm def not a tech influencer. The best advice I give is be persistent, take advice from people in the industry and don't get caught up other people's success. Focus on your own and push through. It takes work but rewards are there.

Solid advice. I deleted all socials, linkedin included, off my phone in preparation for the PMP. I still have them off to decrease my daily scrolling but it's crazy how much time we spend on our phones due to it.
Best way to study for a certification is to leave social media for a while.

Keep an impact log of your work. It's best to do it when you start at a new company but not too late to start one if you're at an existing company. Don't wait for someone to "notice" your work. Set up evaluation meetings and talk yo shit.

ONE of the easiest way to get into tech is going to be startups every time. Need some contract/side hustle work? Startups! Need a place to grow fast? STARTUPS! You will have a headache sometimes but it'll keep you fed and it's easy to pivot, within or outside the company.

My chickens can't roam friendly due to a very large Tom cat that some neighbors don't monitor. I've decided to let them roam and start trapping cats to turn in. They're always in my yard looking at my chickens or the wild birds in my yard. I hate it and I have a cat myself. 😠

For anyone considering their PMP but feel overwhelmed by the app process: Take your time! Write up your experience (5 process group format) on a separate doc so you can copy/paste your experience in. I got approved to take my exam last week and this method helped me.

I do SaaS. Quickest way to explain it, customer signs contract to use our software, I meet with customer to learn what they need the product to do, I configure the software to work they way they need it to. Also train them on it, test orders, bug reports, build their sites etc
