Man…some of these Ruby salaries I’ve been offered at staggering. One was more than double my base pay at MSFT at the time… Rubys junior market may not be super strong. But the mid-level+ market is absurd…

@IanColdwater For the M2 at least, the math is roughly "Whatever RAM works for you, cut it in half." So if 64gb works well, you could get away with 32gb. Conversely, if you buy a 64gb, its probably equivalent to about 128gb-ish. The math isn't perfect, but this is roughly what I've found

I "self learned" / "self paced" to get to where I am today. It took me nearly 4 years of coding to get my first job. I had 2 kids, was working 72hrs/week as a paramedic. Cohorts would never have worked for me because I never would've been able to keep up with others.
@gaganbiyani

This is exactly why "self-learning" is unbelievably ineffective. Sometimes, you are part of the .1%. Most of the time you aren't: you get stuck, you get distracted, lose motivation, etc. Cohorts solve this problem.

@manuel_frigerio Important to note a lot of places put stipulations on code you write. “Anything you write while you’re here, we own” is in a number of contracts. So obviously if anything I write is owned by someone else, I’d hide it in private repos and turn off the commit graph.
