Surgery wait lists for kids:
Ortho: 775 with 289 for +1 year
Spinal: 288 with 35 +1 year,
Urology: 430 with 161 +1 year.
Today, we launch our Kids Can't Wait campaign to push for action to tackle these wait lists.

. Also, this cohort of children with Spina Bifida/ Scoliosis equates to only 20% of total Orthopaedic cases. What about the rest - 80%? There is a bigger picture here and these children are left ignored and neglected.
The reality is, the longer children with scoliosis are left on waiting lists, the greater the curve in their spines.
Why is it that the most vulnerable, the sickest children in this country. arguably, are not being prioritised for healthcare

The number of children waiting for scoliosis surgery stood at 313 at the end of January. Many children are waiting in extreme pain. Families are heartbroken as their pleas for help are ignored. The promise of a 4 month wait by successive Ministers is broken over & over.
