As the cold weather continues, please remember to phone elderly or vulnerable neighbours to check that they are OK. Support services are available for older people who need them. Take care, keep an eye on weather updates and do not put yourself at risk:

There are currently high levels of influenza circulating. Today there are 984 patients with influenza in hospitals. Outbreaks cause further harm and it is essential not to visit hospitals or care facilities when you have symptoms of respiratory infection. Míle buíochas.

We all have a role to play in safeguarding antibiotics for the future. European Antibiotic Awareness Day reminds us that antibiotics are a valuable resource and should be used prudently to prevent and reduce antibiotic resistance. #KeepAntibioticsWorking

The children’s free nasal spray flu vaccine is available for children aged 2-17. Thig le duine ar bith an fliú a fháil ach d'fhéadfadh sé a bheith ina thinneas tromchúiseach do leanaí. I encourage parents to get their children vaccinated to protect them from flu this winter

This bank holiday weekend, get the right care from the right place that suits your healthcare needs. That might be your pharmacist, GP, GP out of hours or an injury unit. But if you need emergency hospital treatment, don't delay – visit an Emergency Department or call 999 or 112.

Good hand hygiene is the best way to reduce the spread of infection. The AMRIC Hand Hygiene training on @HSE_HSeLanD is mandatory for all HSE staff and staff in HSE-funded services. Infection prevention is a vital part of providing safe healthcare, and is all our responsibility.
