When I was working on my latest article, I realised how bad our data situation is. I had to literally search for each state’s budget name by name and use press releases for most states. I could only get the actual budget for like 3/4 states.

Earlier this week, after nine years of waiting, I was inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria as Doctor Olaoluwa Olorunfemi (MB;BS Ibadan)

@Mochievous
Semantics which distract from the point I'm trying to make.
We all have quirks which we dislike, but I (and this is a personal opinion) think it'd be better to have simply told him instead of ..... this
Nah, this guy is killing me😭
His entire presentation was 20 secs (0:05 - 0:25)
The quote was 20 secs (0:25 - 0:45)
Was he there for the quote or for the presentation?😭🌚🌚
“I like Chem Path but Histo Path is too broad, so if I spank Chem Path and get 50-something in Micro and Haematology but I bang Histo, I will sha pass Pathology”
I hear the call and response in my head as the Pastor reads out each name while the crowd echoes it. His mother is smiling beatifically, wearing white lace with his father carries him.
There is jollof rice and hot 35cl glass Pepsi while each plate has two deep fried cow meat.
At the end of the day, being in a public university medical school is a disadvantage. We eventually have to compete for the same slots with institutes that wouldn't hesitate to give their students full marks/distinctions.
COVID has made clinical students realise that we are not as young as being in school makes us feel.
And you can't be asking for money for everything again 😔
For the average UI medical student,
that first two-hour Anatomy class
where they finish the first forty pages of Keith Moore
that you spent three weeks of pre-resumption cramming.
It will reset your head that you’re in the big leagues.
I can’t lie, I was mildly disappointed after my first surgery when I discovered that arteries were not red and veins were not blue like Keith Moore promised.
In the last two months, both of my younger sisters have finished with First Class in the NLS and Chemistry respectively. I’m overwhelmed.
In the midst of darkness, Good things are still coming out of Nazareth.
I am willing to bet my certificate that this is the same for Artemeter-Lumefatrine combination.
If you don’t give Dihydroartemisin-Piperaquine or Artemeter, that patient is coming back.
By the time you finish, MB IV will touch your heart, body and brain in brazenly indecent places.
I was kneeling down to read by ending of Week 1 and shaking from tiredness and near-tears by middle of week 2. I just wanted to sleep more than food, clothing or shelter.

In the recently-concluded
@IfumsaOau
elections, I designed all the media used for my brother's
@koladegoke
's eventual emergence as the 44th President.
Starting from visualising his IFUMSA-Cracy logo to the flyers 1/n
Official photo drop from the SW Convention Presidential Debate on the Nigerian Health Sector.
With short prep time and pulling out twice, still pulled off a win.

MB III done and dusted.
I'm looking for opportunities to work and gain experience in:
- Epidemiology
- Health Data Science
- Health Policy
- Infectious Diseases, and
- the intersection of Data Science/ML and healthcare.
I would appreciate recommendations and tips. Thank you!
In a theoretical world, surgeons would be able to use this to livestream their POVs for medical students to actually follow.
But it’s Nigeria, so theoretically.
There Is an often-repeated trope amongst the diasporan doctors, which, while well intentioned, repeatedly ignores the reality of Nigeria for the newly graduated, lower to middle-income, medical doctor.

Psych posting teaches you about learned helplessness- the internalization of a perceived inability to do anything to change one’s situation at the moment. And you can draw a straight line from that to their over reliance and outsourcing of destiny and change to God’s hands.

I left secondary school 11 years ago, graduated one year behind my contemporaries from the same set in the same school (Vet Med) because of strike action; and still do not have evidence that I went to University as at today.
