Thrilled to announce the launch of Legendary Upside— the new home of my written content.
In addition to posting articles, I'll deliver them as a newsletter and... as a podcast newsletter. I'll be narrating these episodes in a solo pod style.

Thoughts on Hard Knocks:
1) Aaron Rodgers is that dude who thinks repeating a bad joke will make it funny
2) Rodgers said “yes, and” with a tone that provides utter certainty he’s attended an improv class
3) Thoughts and prayers for that improv class
Shane Steichen on Anthony Richardson:
"I think the development of players comes with more experience... I think when you play more, that's how you develop... practice reps, game reps, I think that's how you develop."
Wheels all the way up.
In order to produce a legendary season in the modern NFL a RB not only needs a high volume receiving role… their skillset needs to be well suited to the passing game. Receiving is the most important element of my RB target profile, but there’s much more:
In terms of bust rate, the RB dead zone doesn’t start in round 3. It starts at 1.01.
We don’t notice this bc there are early round RBs who emerge as the player you had to have.
If you’re drafting an early RB, you need a path to that type of ceiling.

Felt like the LegUp playoff best ball rankings had me building a version of this team every third draft.
Lucky enough to get this one into the Big Mitten final… and ship it.
Last 7/18...
I drafted the winning BBM3 lineup.
Amazingly,
@kingkappital
drafted his winning regular season lineup the same day.
This 7/18...
It feels like a good idea to get some drafts in.
Live on the Legendary Upside YouTube, starting Tuesday at 10 am:
7 drafts / 18 guests
Still have Ty Chandler going tonight but I’m blocked even if he goes nuts.
The repeat dream is over… but it was a hell of a ride.
Good luck to everyone competing for first!
my dad, a long-suffering Browns fan, watched yesterday's game from start to finish.
his main takeaway: "Kenny Pickett is even worse than you led me to believe"
I've been researching the Week 5 matchups all week. Here are some key stats for every game this weekend:
NYG/GB:
Regardless of score, the Packers play slow. 29th in pace when leading by 7+ points and 29th in pace when trailing by 7+ points, and are very slow in neutral script.
Robert Woods
-got $10 mil (!) GTD
-joining system he knows inside and out
-2 years from ACL
-31 (old but not ancient)
-18th rnd ADP
-exists in a universe where 33 (in August) & dust (now) Adam Thielen is 12th rounder
-will get you crushed if you even hint he could be a good pick
Just published 2022's legendary RB scenarios for all 13 RBs going in the first two rounds of drafts. This required me to travel to the future to see how each RB hit 23+ points per game. Here's what I saw... 🧵
Keon Coleman says he spent 30 seconds in the stadium, and during that time, he scored three imaginary touchdowns.
A record amount given the time, he says
It's time to respect the contribution that Albert O is gonna bring this season and actually learn his last name.
Spelling: Okwuegbunam
Pronunciation: O-koo-egg-blake-jarwin
I think it’ll be years before we see a rookie WR become a better value than Dyami Brown was this year.
- Multiple breakout seasons
- Day 2 draft capital
- Big play skill set
- (which pairs perfectly with QB)
- Uptempo offense
- Got open at will in camp
- Path to an immediate role
Last year I traveled to the future.
When I returned I recommended the immense upside of Christian McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler, and Saquon Barkley.
And I advised caution on Dalvin Cook, Najee Harris, Alvin Kamara, and Leonard Fournette.
I made the trip again this year...
Every early round running back has scenarios where they produce a legendary 2021.
Only a few have paths probable enough to bet on.
I laid out legendary scenarios for 15 early round running backs to generate my early round target list for 2021.
If you had an NFL draft time machine, what's one thing you'd change?
I'll start -
I'd stop the 2021 Giants from drafting Kadarius Toney so we could all see Urban Meyer's plan for him.
Aaron Rodgers on having Breece Hall back:
"I said there was a huge difference when Garrett Wilson was on the field, & I feel like the difference when Breece Hall is on the field is also substantial. Breece is just a different speed. In practice he caught a pass & hit 21+ MPH &
Carson Steele was an undrafted free agent.
He ran a 4.75 40.
He's so slow he looks slow in pictures.
He's a literal fullback who wears number 42.
But he's on the Chiefs so I'm probably gonna draft him.
route participation might be seen as an advanced stat, but it's very basic... what % of routes is a player running?
it's as fundamental as snap share and should be freely available and easy to view.
shout out to
@MBFantasyLife
for making that happen.

The Bateman dynasty takes are getting absurd.
Aiyuk scored 185 points last year and plays on a run heavy team w/ a running rookie QB w/ accuracy issues. We're all excited anyway bc he might be a star.
Bateman needs 10-12ppg and we'll all be drafting him in 2022.
Bet on talent.
I’ve been trying to dial in my small field gpp strategy and this week I got lucky enough to take down the Spin Move.
🙏
@2Hats1Mike
&
@DrewDinkmeyer
who helped get me on the Chase/Hollywood mini.
Stafford triple looked very intriguing after writing the Friday Walkthrough.
look, all i'm saying is if someone started a people of wal-mart style account w/ screenshots of gross poorly built best ball teams, i'd turn notifications on.
Just published a deep dive article on how to build best ball teams specifically for tournaments with single-week playoffs, like Best Ball Mania.
Part 1: Skill players
Part 2: QBs (drops Friday)
Here's the skill player gist...🧵
