The Atavistic explanation of cancer deserves attention as a testable hypothesis. At the very least, it is to be tested as a criteria to select targets - i.e selecting target according phylogenetic age.

This seems the right path:
A new (~2013!) idea for why existing approaches aren't leading to cancer cures. This is the first I'd heard of it even though I know some of the people concerned. Research based on this idea should be funded even if they can tick none of the boxes. @ARIA_research @ilangur
