High praise. When one gains the respect of (or criticism from) those whose opinion one has deep respect for, what else matters on social media?

@aaryan_kakad Same as I recommend to everyone. Read like a textbook, slowly, making sure that you understand each point. Less a book and more a school of philosophy. The Sovereign Child is an offshoot. Accompany with @ToKTeacher podcasts. The Beginning of Infinity

@r0b0t_sp1der @balajis Can you begin to imagine what London streets were like in the 1700s? Yet that was a society *also* in the process of becoming a beacon of the Enlightenment.

@rhetgib @balajis Ah *that* movement on ā€œthe continentā€ was often opposed to the Enlightenment and yes: something about it ended then. But thatā€™s not *The* Enlightenment to which I am referring. Ref: 1. 2. Excerpt:

@rhetgib @balajis Common misconception. It began thenā€¦but hasnā€™t ended. So long as we keep correcting errors and making progress fast enough, it wonā€™t.

@StardreamersxYz @simianghost ā€œIn the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Let us prayā€. I guess Rand would have been horrified at sentiments which turn her ideas into dogma, and herself into some infallible oracle.

Letā€™s excuse billions of dollars of waste because if we cannot do something about the trillions, itā€™s not worth doing anything? The OP misunderstands the cultural effect, whatever the amount, it may have on the bureaucracy and citizensā€™ expectations of what tax is for.

@tomhfh He takes that bit back, to be fair. The broader, deeper point is so important, viewers shouldn't be distracted by that slip up. Worth watching.

@ScottAdamsSays In their second term, the 22nd amendment takes care of that for Presidents, right? In theory, anyway.

@Roched_ The government is not exactly...welcoming here. But it seems the rest of the West is beginning to learn that, sadly:

@heydyvex @Philoniko I was really thinking more along the lines of: automated translation into ~any language using my own voice as an audio file. Iā€™ve seen it done (for a cost).

@Xploringhuman @jack Iā€™ve spent a lot of time looking into (eg) Sapir and Whorf (for example) and Wittgenstein. I just donā€™t buy the premise. Language has real power. But itā€™s just one aspect of how our minds conjure and comprehend reality to themselves.

@MMBeckerman @elonmusk If only it were ā€œquickly explodingā€. In fact our ability to sustain more people is outpacing the rate of increase in population. Fewer starve, more are wealthier and healthier. If anything:
