@DrDiGiorgio @drdanchoi Our โMedicaidโ is that approximately 25% of all costs are covered my the government - and the amount is increasingโฆ in other words: our system is not able to survive without major changes. Weโre in a deep crisis.

I wouldnโt prefer any system by looking at it from far outside. Here physiciansโ salaries significantly dropped and will drop further, administrative paperwork is immense, many Swiss hospitals are being closed as they were inefficient and many other bad things are happening here, too. But overall Swiss health care workers know that health care economy is very complex and easy solutions are not available.

A compulsory system means that every citizen has to have a health insurance - but you can choose between many private insurance companies and the plans can be tailored to your needs. If youโre treated in-hospital the costs are covered by the government (right now itโs min 55%) and by private insurance (max 45%). In an outpatient setting costs are covered only by private insurance.

I wonder how the situation has been before ACA. If it has been that easy to afford private insurance for most now-Medicaid-covered citizens - just why has the ACA been put on the agenda? And why do all other countries also have huge problems in affording good and efficient health care? I would never dare to compare health care with the canned soup industryโฆ

Isnโt it somewhat cynical from a historical standpoint to urge the very part of the population that couldnโt afford private insurance - which was the reason the Affordable Care Act was put on the political agenda in the first place - to now distance themselves from Medicaid and opt for private insurance instead? Or is everybody now able to afford private health insurance? A question from a Europeanโฆ

Join us this Thursday 6pm ET and hear what you will be doing in 5-10 years from now! While we all routinely place percutaneous or minimally invasive thoracolumbar screws in our daily practice, only a select few have mastered the art of percutaneous screw placement in the cervical spine. If you want to learn how itโs done, tune in on February 6th at 6pm ET to hear Dr. Clemens Weber! ๐

@JahangirAsgha10 The most interesting thought I have is to imagine hospitals buying high quality 3D-titanium printers and be independent from Medtech companiesโฆ And if my dead body is found in the desert next week itโs because of this post ๐
