Jen Psaki somewhat mockingly asks reporter at the White House Daily Press Briefing if the US should be sending out rapid #COVID19 tests to every household. In the UK you can order 1 pack (containing 7 tests) everyday.

It’s frustrating to watch much of the “Still COVIDing” reject any data that does not fit a pattern of worsening and worsening news- as if it’s somehow inconceivable that winter 2025 will be a less eventful season.
Jan 17th update:. Peak has definitely passed. Now I can overlay the observed data until Jan 8 (orange) over my Holiday Season Forecast from Nov 19 (green). Modeled numbers for Jan 17:. 🔸515,000 new infections/day.🔸~1 in 65 currently infected.🔸No region surpassed summer peak

Saw @JPWeiland referred to as a “minimizer” in a FB this week, and I honestly think people have lost the damn plot.

In case anyone was wondering, yes, your Air Fanta 3Pro by @Engineer_Wong fits perfectly in your Theranos sample transport bag.

@JPWeiland I've switched over from hand sanitizer to using Soap Sheets + little bottles of water. Not perfect because you can still cross contaminate the packaging, etc. but better than hand sanitizer in my estimation.

@DrPatSoonShiong I remember you on CNN in 2021 cautioning about this. Sent the clip to everyone I know. What is the pathway moving forward.

@taltalon @EricTopol Don't give oxygen to accounts that are posting photos of people in tyvek suits and full face elastomeric respirators. It does nothing but make COVID seem like a joke- which it very much isn't. This is where were are at in terms of Wastewater. Fairly low relatively, but rising.

@inkblue01 Why are we not pumping these folks with monoclonal antibody treatments to attack the viral persistence?.

@oldfshndanne It’s never good to get covid, it’s dangerous both in the short and long term, but what described there was the case for younger children in school before covid.

@michael_hoerger @jlerollblues Why do you think they publish this data when it is so dramatically off? The original screenshot of the line going vertical has been bouncing around all the COVID Facebook groups, etc. People canceling plans, medical treatments, etc.

@michael_hoerger I am having such a hard time reconciling data like this with what I am seeing in friends, family, and coworkers. I just don't know what to think.

@1goodtern Because people use the term “flu” to communicate they are sick when they don’t actually have the flu.

Posts like this are why his tweets are banned from my H5N1 discussion group.
Pro Survival Tip:. Stop consuming dairy products—no cow milk, no cheese. Here’s why: We’re in a pandemic, and viruses are everywhere. Testing is scarce, and transparency in the food industry is even scarcer. Do you really want to gamble your health on the pasteurization.

@KashPrime 100%, unusually rough summer seems to have given way to a unusually less rampaging winter. We got lucky that there were no major variant shifts.

@SalvMattera “Interpret them the wrong way” highlights a central problem with the SC movement- the inability to respect that people have different levels of acceptable risk and are capable of making their own decisions based on data.

@CureLongCovid Make sense! Really hope that the proximity of an infection to vaccination helps drive down the rates of LC, but the data just doesn't seem to exist yet as far as I've been able to tell. We are so lucky to have such an amazing LC clinic here in Boston.

@wongmjane Make sure you practice with it! My father has been a cop for like a million years and highly recommends the gel spray. I've tried it and much easier to control / get on target, and you have to worry less about inhaling it yourself.

@pjavidan I do often see commentary in SC groups that is akin to “they’ll get what’s coming to them”, which is almost gleeful at times. I think it’s hard for some to process (relatively) good news when they’ve given up so much.

@michael_hoerger And make no mistake- it is clear LC is a thing, and I go to extreme measures to avoid infection- but I look around and just don't see this level of impact w/ friends and family who are YOLOing.

ChatGPT won't acknowledge the true JZ (@zittrain).
New: ChatGPT is also breaking when asked about two specific law professors. Type "Jonathan Zittrain" or "Jonathan Turley" into ChatGPT and it'll refuse to provide a response. Both write about AI, one said ChatGPT defamed him.

@michael_hoerger Is this being fueled by a specific site? I keep clicking around to look at the individual sites in the region and see mostly stable results- including and specifically in some of the largest population centers.

@chemian99 @wsbgnl absolutely, we need a total indoor air overhaul, better vaccines, approaches to preventing or repairing the damage from LC. The battle has just begun. My critique is centered solely on people who refuse to believe @JPWeiland’s data because it doesn’t fit their perspective.

Another win for motorcycles, which should be a primary means of transportation for many in urban centers.
NYC congestion tolls start tomorrow for motorists entering Manhattan at 60th St. or below:. • Cars/SUVs/pickups: $9.• Non-commuter buses: $14.40.• Big rigs: $21.60.• Motorcycles: $4.50. The MTA wants to raise $15 billion for mass transit improvements and ease gridlock

@vipintukur Between this and the case reports re: complete resolution of LC symptoms after being treated with monoclonal antibody treatments, it is hard to think that viral persistence is not the main driver of LC.

@TMaritanoAquino I’d wager the only people modifying their behaviors based on WW date are people who are vastly more precautious than the average person. Does more favorable WW move 5% of .5% of the population to do more? Maybe.

@michael_hoerger What would even be driving that? Every site I click on in the region is like either *slightly* up or stable? Perhaps the folks at Wastewaterscan had a little too much eggnog at their company holiday party?.

@DrPatSoonShiong Can you share what precautions, if any, you are taking personally to avoid infection?.

Such a sizable portion of the still COVIDing community has gone off the rails and into the gutter with the antivaxer crowd. Not every ailment or death is Long COVID, not every ailment or death is vaccine injury. C/LC is bad enough, we don’t need to be doing this stuff.
He’s ill every tournament isn’t he? It’s definitely just adrenaline 🫠🙃. Tennis players are getting absolutely hammered by covid (& now covid related immune problems) & everyone is still like ‘C’mon, push through, you winner!’ 🤮.

@amymitchellart @JudyandHuahua have you tried a NAAT? There are numerous brands of RAT that I can turn positive, especially with throat swabs, due to pH.

@Matt_E_Baumann I would skip out on the Ioniq 5 until they get the ICCU stuff sorted out- huge PITA when it fails (and they are failing at a very high rate).

@Matt_E_Baumann There are kinda two schools of thought, one is that it's related to coolant intrusion by way of a seal that degrades (although Hyundai says this is not it), the other is that there is poor thermal management that cooks the electronics. It might actually be both.

@SalvMattera “safe” is not binary, it’s a spectrum. Would I dine indoors if there was very little circulating? Absolutely. Would I dine indoors if it was raging? Absolutely not.

@JN1171 @SalvMattera I don’t think that anyone reading wastewater data is not aware of the very different (and unfortunate) dynamics of SARS-CoV-2.

@Matt_E_Baumann If you are also ok getting a loaner for a month or two if it does bite the dust. I have a small kid so suddenly getting stranded with them in the car is a big downside. Others might have much higher tolerances :-).

@SalvMattera Well, the average person takes no precautions at all. If you are wearing a KN95 you are in the sub 1% of the population.

@Matt_E_Baumann The ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) in these cars continues to fail at a very high rate, Hyundai has issued multiple recalls but if you read through the forums/subreddits/FB groups you'll see that people who've had the recall "fix" are still having ICCU failures.
