Zuckerberg is afraid. In 11 days, without iPad apps that run on the hardware, Apple Vision Pro has more native apps than Quest has in 11 years.
Quest is decent hardware, don't get me wrong. The video just smacks of desperation and fear.

MAYBE if this was based on individual income, but HOUSEHOLD income? Nah.
If the military broke somebody, they shouldn't get a pass because the spouse has a good job.
1. Military academies didn't make better officers.
2. We do not. What we actually need is accountability. You know, like military officers have under the UCMJ.
@SnazzyQ
There's no real argument against how well Cook dealt with COVID supply chain issues versus literally everybody else, and that's just the latest in the 11 years since Jobs passed.
Quick takes:
- The Apple Pencil situation on iPad is... ludicrous.
- iPad Pro doesn't get the landscape camera?
- Apple Pencil hover is cool, but will depend on the developers for success
- The Apple TV 4K situation is strange. Ethernet costs pennies per unit.
For the folks going crazy for M3 Macs, you should probably temper your expectations. Apple isn't going to roll out a new processor in a video stream at 8PM.
My prediction is a M2 iMac, and that's about it.

I'm not sure how you justify the return of the mini. The Plus isn't selling gangbusters, but by most indications, it's still selling better than the mini models did.
Don't confuse loud fans of the form factor, with volume.

Flak: "We never said that."
Me: "Yeah you did, verbatim. That's why I put it in quotes. I have the PR right here."
Flak: "Well, that's not what we meant."
Of course Apple makes more money than any other company ever. Much of the money they're making isn't rightly theirs! They're taking it from consumers and smaller companies by imposing a monopoly and a tax on app distribution and payments.
I don't think Twitter is going to go down.
Instead, I think that when the site is having a problem, repair times will be measured in hours, not minutes. I'm expecting some history loss too.
Also, any new initiatives or features will take much longer to develop & deploy.

This guy's "criticism" is childish, and inane. Always has been.

Not sure that Apple is crying about it, given that they are saying it's a "resounding victory" and not appealing.
Sweeney is absolutely crying that he can't have an iOS app store of his own, though.
Okay, so - if you're looking at the new, big HomePod, consider the space you're putting it in. One will over-fill a small space, and a stereo pair will shake paint off the walls.
Living room - two big HomePods. Office space? Get a pair of HomePod minis.

Good news everybody! Apple's polishing cloth is on sale! It's now only buy one for the price of five non-Apple branded ones, instead of one for the price of six!

Sure there are. Meta has acknowledged several times in analyst calls after earnings reports that there's a problem with Quest user engagement after the first week.
Long, long ago, I stacked up G3 motherboards with risers, and used Xgrid to make a cluster in a smaller space than desktop cases would allow.

I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with the $3200 more I'll be spending on taxes because of deduction withdrawal. I wonder what the voters will be thinking about next year. Maybe about how the Republicans passed a bill that had 33 percent approval with the public?
As I predicted, the French did their own thing for RF testing, and didn't adhere to any recognized standard. TLDR: Even if 5.4 W/kg was injurious - and it isn't - there's no scenario where you'd get exposed to it.
Time, distance, shielding applies.
The non-Pro iPhone is important to Apple. It is what will hold the line when the one-year upgraders are done buying the Pro phones.
If you're coming from an iPhone 13 or older, buy the iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus without fear.
Review: The move to the iPhone 15 is a much larger step than the iPhone 14 was, and it is a return to form for Apple's phone for the rest of us. By

If you write about tech, its incredibly easy to minimize the "computer as appliance" crowd -- and that group vastly outnumbers the spec-obsessed.
There are about 20 iPhone users to every Mac user, for instance.
The folks begging Disney to not be "woke" with X-Men '97 never really got it in the first place. Stan Lee was super-clear about it directly being about racism, intolerance, injustice, inequality and similar.

I want Apple Vision Pro to lift all boats. I want Meta to adopt the best of it, and then I want Apple to do the same with whatever Meta is doing.
It doesn't sound like Zuckerberg thinks he has to do anything.

Starfleet is 100% the military branch of the Federation.
I've fired an AR-15, I've fired a M-16. I've got the sharpshooter ribbon to prove it, and I'm fully trained on both. They, and weapons like them, do not belong in the general population. At all.
And, we have nowhere near a well-regulated militia.
First impressions:
• Was expecting iPad Pros to be more expensive
• 13-inch Air brings that screen size to this price point for the first time in ages.
• New Apple Pencil is cool, and I'm surprised it was $129, but not for me.
Okay, look. I'm as excited about a vaccine for COVID as everybody else, but this news today from Pfizer is a PRESS RELEASE.

This is an incredibly specific deal, but this Whill Model F wheelchair is far and away the best car-portable folding battery wheelchair that we've tried -- and we've tried a huge number of them.
My guess is these will be revealed in a press release in October, not an event, with no case changes.
I also think it's too early for a Mac mini. The M2 and M2 Pro Mac minis debuted in January. Going to guess just 13-inch Air and 13-inch MBP.
The focus is tightening on Apple’s September iPhone 15 event, with new M3 Macs expected to debut with perhaps less fanfare in October instead. By

Disingenuous.
1) You didn't buy it.
2) You were issued it after a lot of training on regulations about when, where, and how to use it.
3) You had an entire chain of command that enforced the regulations about using it.
Regulations. Now where have I heard that before?

This has been a saga for a decade.
Apple & Qualcomm suing each other, settlements, Qualcomm saying that they expected the iPhone to not use its modem by 2024, and so much more.
Qualcomm will be supplying Apple with 5G modems for the iPhone up until 2026, a deal that delays the arrival of an Apple-created modem in the smartphone for a few more years. By
