@ProfessaJay
I used to love inviting my guy friends to this one barre class I loved. 60 mins of micro pulsing, holds, and push-ups and they all collapse at the end
@alexmeshkin
A friend got covid last week and said he felt like he was on his deathbed, double vaxxed and double boosted. Begged for and got paxlovid and fever went under 103 after day 3, feeling better after day 6 but energy levels still low.
It’s weird to have to write this kind of note to your team, explaining the boring back of house decisions I made a long time ago that seem cumbersome literally every day but on days like this you’re thankful to have made them.

The case for daycares and senior community centers to share space.
But now they're super pissed and organizing. Moms that are lawyers. Moms that are technologists. Moms that are nonprofit leaders. Moms that are holding their kids tighter every night than the night before. Moms that are running for office.

1) enterprise workflow automation for steady & more predictable return
2) index funds because AI will infiltrate everything just like software did
3) some fun ones because why not and you never know
4) and then whoever Jim Cramer says not to buy I guess

The longer you live and work, the more you realize that surrounding yourself with people who are great at the things you suck at is a life skill that most people are bad at.
Tiktok needs to disclose who is making the threats for prosecution.
This is at best a ridiculous use of public resources. At worst, they are enabling gun violence in schools.

Huge thank you to

for sharing your story with us and inspiring future activists and public servants to take the leap. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Women in Public Service stage anytime!

I can say this because congress is overwhelmingly men.
Moms are super pissed that congress doesn't have the balls to vote on gun reform. They were pissed after Sandy Hook. Moms like

One day as an employer you will realize that forcing your teams to commute to the office to work when they've been successfully hitting goals for 3 years remotely is more about you than them.

Here’s the trillion dollar question: How do we get back to bipartisan?
There is so so so much that everyone benefits from, and yet the far left and far right spend almost all of their time dropping mics on trigger issues
I hear the real estate market is tanking. These are all the pending deals around where we live in San Mateo County. Yes, those are a lot of properties above 2.5M
People without children won’t understand until it’s their turn - going on a trip with your kids is not a vacation. It’s a trip. There’s no relaxing for the parents. Zero. There’s fun, sure. But relaxing and rejuvenating? Almost never. You come back more exhausted.
@itsurboyevan
Is exit the name of the game? Because the shopify c’s are pretty prolific on twitter and use it as an acquisition channel for their customers which is pretty damn cool
@joy
No, thank goodness.
People have been fighting for those eucalyptus trees to be protected for years but they are invasive, non-native, and have shallow roots. So this kind of stuff stuff happens whenever there’s too much rainfall. Don’t live near eucalyptus trees in the Bay Area

As a counter, single data point, our freshman intern is all hustle and smart as hell. Can’t wait for her to graduate so we can hire her full-time.
In this election cycle I've talked to a dozens of smart, ambitious, caring, and incredible women openly say that they won't run for office because of what they saw in AD21. That's the biggest loss IMO. Ppl work hard to "build the pipeline" & killed it over a few months. Shame.
Opened Uber app to get a ride and to my surprise they showed me a bus route near my house that I could take instead. Never used this route before, straight shot to my destination. 😊
My 100 yo grandmother, who contracted and recovered from covid in December at her nursing home, got her first vaccine shot today. We’ve been on eggshells terrified that we were going to lose her and are so so thankful that she was able to fight it.
It's super weird waiting for the pending natural disaster to happen. Growing up on the west coast, we usually only deal with earthquakes and there's really no warning - it just happens and we deal with it. So now everyone just looking out the window waiting.

Hubris... is that BOTH the polar left & polar right refuse to see that there is an option other than theirs and draw impossible hard lines. Compromise does not exist on the ends of the political spectrum. That is not governing a democracy.
What a joy it’s been to live in a developing neighborhood for the past 6 years and watch it come to life. Walkable San Mateo just got even more walkable with a brand new
@Caltrain
station and underpass connecting east and west. Love it.
@jowyang
Yup good old eucalyptus
I was so anti palm tree in suburbs but in Jan did research about their root systems and why they can live in such windy and moist areas. Just another tall grass. Am now palm tree neutral (also non-native tho).
This sandwich generation thing is so so real. Not even talking about the emotional strain here. The astronomical cost of elder AND child care will break most families' budgets.
@megankao_
I could go on and on. So many “smaller” sub $100M acquisitions that no one talks about but founders and early teams walk away handsomely after building something great.
My husband once asked me why I bought a toilet paper holder with a little table on it. Some think it’s for their phone but this is a much better use case after a week of managing covid in a house with two kids. Wente GSM, red blend. We got married there 11 years ago.
@megankao_
Another friend sold for $8M but owned 84%. That’s still generational wealth. It is all a win.
Another person I knew sold for $25M and owned 40% after 6 years.
There is no “perfect” path, ever.
Baby watch update. Target is 10/28 for baby day. That’ll get us to 35 weeks, hopefully she won’t have to spend much time in the NICU. Doc thinks I can make it. We can’t wait to meet her. ❤️

Sociologically there’s a lot of residual and internalized anxiety around depression & war which most US residents (at least) living today have never had a drop of life experience with. And then coupled with the rise of social media and perceived obsession with things that frugal
I asked my mom group today if anyone wanted to see three angel deals I had on my desk and over a hundred moms reached out in 2 hours.

Yes, but those prices were wholly too high and unsustainable. COL needs to come down further or living wage requirements and min wages will need to exceed $40/hr in metros
The farmers market guy today taught my kid how to negotiate for a bracelet. I gave him $20 to spend at the market (his bday was today) and he wanted this handmade bracelet. As B was pulling out $15 (asking price), the guy stopped him and said, "Son, you have to negotiate with me.
@chrishlad
If there’s anything I’ve learned is that there are a lot of paths to success, and the definition of success is personal. I don’t know how old you are, but since you were an intern in 2020, maybe wait a few decades before judging others.
I met an Annie Tsai who is a lawyer in SoCal at my friend’s wedding. They sat us at the same table on purpose. We now forward each other our mistaken emails regularly too
I got emails & texts today from moms asking which non-partisan org they should give to. Asking who they need to vote for. Asking who actually cares that kids are dying bc gov't can't make policy so a rando can't walk into a school and kill their kids with a semi.
@stephsmithio
I went from a 2 hour r/t commute to in 2017 no commute and 100% increase in the amount of time I can spend with my kids every day before they go to sleep. The 2 hours were usually dinner, bath, reading, bed so this net new is super important. Not sure money can make up for that.
20’s - a good night is seeing the sun rise after an amazing night of serendipitous conversations
30’s - a good night is a fantastic meal with incredible wine and great friends
40’s - a good night is being in bed at 8:30 and no one is asking you for anything

Some conversations are better done in person, but overwhelmingly all conversations and work do not need to happen in person. Butts in seats does not mean people love their work.
A leader’s primary job is to understand what their team needs to perform at their optimal state and
How is it that the US has no federal maternity leave benefit. Baby has been attached to me for 50 days eating almost nonstop & I don’t know what I would do without the generous company leave I have. This country needs to support working mothers better. Way, way better.
