Kimberley's sewerage system has been non-functional for many years and, as a result, the environment is being affected! The once thriving (and breeding!) population of Lesser Flamingos is sadly gone. @Solplaatjemun @DWS_RSA @environmentza

One of the highlights of our 5-weeks in Patagonia (Argentina and Chile) was watching this magnificent Andean Condor soar past the massive Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park. Magna vita est!

It was a pleasure today to watch and photograph a male Magellanic Woodpecker not far from El Chaltén, Patagonia, Argentina. What a beautiful bird!

There are few couples who have done as much for conservation in Africa. Congrats to Pamela and Neville Isdell for receiving a WWF Living Planet Award. Very well deserved! Pamela is one of BirdLife South Africa's four Honorary Patrons. @IsdellPamela @BirdLife_SA @WWFSouthAfrica

The Baker River in Chile is now my very favourite river. It is the largest river by volume in Chile. Its characteristic turquoise-blue colour is due to the glacial sediments deposited in it. If we come back in Jan/Feb, we'd like to go down the river on a raft.

As an African conservationist, I am impressed with the huge contribution that Doug & Kristine Tomkins have made to conservation in Chile (our 1st time visit to this special country). We need people like them to support our rewilding project @KrisTomkins
