We’ve hit 10,000 signatures to #SaveAfricanPenguins, but the fight isn’t over yet!  With 97% of the population gone in just 100 years due to climate change and competing against commercial fishing. Help us reach 15,000 signatures! Sign the petition here

The African Penguin is now officially Critically Endangered!🐧💔 Fewer than 10,000 pairs remain, threatened by food shortages due to commercial fishing. SANCCOB & BirdLife SA are fighting for stronger protections. #SaveTheAfricanPenguin #EndangeredSpecies

@AllAfricaTours @TourGuideInst We need the support from the tourism sector to save African penguins! The total Tourism value of all South African penguin colonies, estimated R613 million to R2702 million, and indicated a total of 1046 to 4611 jobs are linked to the penguin colonies!

@DeanMacpherson Thank you! The endangered African penguins contribute between R1.9-R4.5 billion annually to our socio-economic landscape. They face extinction by 2035 if we don't act now. With less than 8300 breeding pairs left in the wild in SA, we need all the support!

On 25 July, #SANCCOB released 30 #Africanpenguin fledglings at De Hoop Nature Reserve with partners BirdLife South Africa and CapeNature. The aim is to re-establish this site. The fledglings will spend 2-3 years at sea before returning to the De Hoop colony to moult and breed.

Our Chick Rearing Unit (CRU) is bursting at the seams, as we take in over 500 chicks & 400 eggs every year. To increase our capacity to rescue even more penguin chicks & eggs, we need your help. No donation is too small: #SANCCOB #AfricanPenguins
