Harmed patient since the early 90's. Aspiring journalist and advocate (yes, you can be both). Not going to stop fighting for us💕 Between Provinces. All TRUTH.
Lorelai and Rory are the classic codependent mother and daughter. Rory is parentified by her emotionally immature parent. Lorelai uses her as her sole confidant (BFF), and there are no boundaries— Lorelai is over-involved in every aspect of her life. This shows up as: control,

We had a funeral for my brother in May 2020. 10 people including the priest outside. It was awful. I wasn’t even sure if I would get a ‘spot.’
@NightShiftMD
Grief is like being part of a club you didn’t ask to join. I’ve lost my mom and 2 brothers within the last 5 years. Nobody knows what to say to you. Even therapists.
@JustinTrudeau
I used to be proud to be 🇨🇦 and now I’m embarrassed. 2 years is too long to wait for primary or specialized care. Investigate the the medical colleges and the CMPA.

When I was really young (like 20s), I didn’t actually know that your belly didn’t go down right away - until someone close to my age gave birth. I never made that mistake again, believe me.
It was like this in 2018 when my mom was in LTC. One nurse and one PSW on overnight shifts. That last week she was alive I stayed with her and witnessed it firsthand.
ONE nurse has 24 medical patients! It is humanly impossible for one nurse to safely & competently manage them all. Care & safety are seriously compromised. If one of those patients was your loved one, how would you feel? This is Ontario.

I just started back up at university. I'm just over it. In speaking about scholarships, an employee says something about 'if you identify as a woman.' Shouldn't there be some sort of form that you can fill out prior - so you don't have to be part of the awkward conversation?
Not sure how I missed this one - maybe NOW someone will pay attention to my story????Mississauga’s only adult eating-disorder program suspends accepting new patients via

Can you imagine being plagued with insomnia for the better part of your adult life? It’s debilitating. I wouldn’t wish insomnia on my worst enemy.
@StevensonLDN
Aren’t sidewalks sometimes impassable due to construction? Wouldn’t that be considered a minor inconvenience?
Think of these people’s lives as a minor inconvenience - if that makes it easier for you to stomach.
@NightShiftMD
This broke my heart to read this. I feel much the same way. I hope you have a pet (or get one), and I hope you find worth and meaning in your work. You seem like a hell of a mensch.
You know what I think would save a lot of time and heartache? If patients were able to see their records in a timely fashion - and sign off in agreement or disagreement. Or if there was a spot where a patient could access online and then add their own comments...
This is the last picture I took of my mom and I before she passed on February 14,2019. My psychiatrist at the time asked me why I would keep this on my phone. Granted, it is hard to look at, but those last moments were awful and beautiful and real.
@DrMcFillin
As someone who lost a brother, her mother, and another brother within 3 years….my psychiatrist just kept prescribing and prescribing and then gave up and ditched me. I still can’t sleep, so I am medicated for that. I think my time for grieving ran out on her. 6 months.

can I ask how you transcended? One of the docs that harmed me is all over social media. Writes articles and does podcasts. My blood still boils almost 3 years later……

My brother died in a forensic hospital where smoking was a “privilege” because they could go outside. When his oral cancer (from smoking) metastasized in his liver and he was given two weeks to live, he got to smoke and go outside.
@AlikaMD
I do want to respect what you’re saying here, but man. Start with the proper pronunciation of February, and we’ll go from there. Nobody in their right mind would move to Ontario right now. I’m all for opening up cross 🇨🇦 care, but Ontario isn’t the only province in this country.

@DrJacobsRad
Omg is this for real? Some other Karen doctor (for real that’s her name) posted something about patients being dumb and nerd guns and you have a problem with this? How is he violating anything with this photo?
just had my HPARB review today. I wish I felt better about it, but I don't.
@cpso_ca
you are corrupt. You don't fully investigate. You don't call on witnesses provided to you. You don't examine charts. Ugh, this is the ultimate feeling where you think, 'I wish I said that.'
Most patrol level cops are pro-defund.
They don’t want to take calls that won’t involve an investigation ie:

health calls, family

, neighbour disputes,
#civil
disputes, cat up a tree etc.

I think everyone should pay for their insurance - as it’s a privilege to drive - not a right. But that’s so sweet of you to put in savings. I’ve heard of people doing this for “rent” and then helping a young person out with a down payment. I think you’re a good dad.
@NightShiftMD
@cbcwhitecoat
Yes, but sometimes seeing a practitioner in person is the only ‘human’ connection a patient has in a new community. It’s not a ‘one size fits all.’ My former doc complains about it in a recent article.
I can’t even begin to express how angry I am. ARE YOU KIDDING YOURSELF? You should be ashamed at your lack of research and sensitivity regarding this topic. The pandemic only brought light to to how the CPSO and other colleges literally get away with mutilation and murder.
My story today about the rise in complaints, harassment, threats and abuse directed at medical regulators and medical professionals, which poses a serious safety risk in some situations.
Not even rapists, pedophiles, and murderers are forcibly drugged by psychiatry. If you want to protect society, get them off the streets. They have more rights than their victims. And let’s face it; most people seeking help from MH services are VICTIMS of crime.

Also - no money in eating disorders. The patients are too sick and likely to relapse. I was begging to be readmitted. Normally I keep most of this inside, but I’m done. I think I’m going public this time.

That I was using her as my ‘emotional punching bag.’ I thought that was completely unfair and unnecessary and it spelled the demise of our therapeutic relationship.
@DrJRubenstein
I'm not a Dr - but when my brother was in palliative care, a nurse gave me a little pamphlet that helped explain a lot. Not sure how it all works on your end, but there are lots of books to be read. However, simply put, I think those who are dying choose how to go.....

They are just shy of getting their drivers' licences - which is a HUGE responsibility - and they should know right from wrong. I don't know all the details of the case, but at 14, you're generally a woman - and if you go by a bar mitzvah - a man. SMH at your comments.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, welcomed, and respected in our province. And although Albertans are exceptionally inclusive and kind, there is still more work to do.

I have to say - I left Ontario mostly due to the state of healthcare there. Alberta is much better in my humble opinion. Is there a way that provinces can share best practices?

I don’t think it was a final straw for me. It was years is my sister intercepting parents’ emails, having them sign over POA under duress, manipulating my father and controlling him. Finally couldn’t take it anymore and moved across the country.
@AlanaKinrich
I work in the service industry (Canada) and I think tipping at ‘non-service’/counters is ridiculous. It annoys me! I think tipping is both personal and optional in those situations. I don’t think you should have to tip when the employee doesn’t bring you your food/beverage….
@odsppoverty
What I think is terrible it that one can only earn an additional $200 per month before deductions. Who can live on this? In Alberta they have AISH-which is about $1700 per month and the ability to earn an additional $1K.This is doable. ODSP forces its recipients into poverty.
@Mikeggibbs
I lost my mom. She had dementia so it was like I lost her 2X. I know in my heart I did my best to ‘not have regrets.’ I still think that I could have done this or that. She once asked me for a yellow sweater when I asked her what she wanted for Christmas. I could not find one…
Am I the only person that thinks that all the holes in the Canadian healthcare system are going to become even more exposed? What will it take to initiate change? It’s too much to bear. It was bad before the pandemic. It feels just like climate change.
