The knowledge & experiences that

has made available to the community since 2014 is amazing. It’s a privilege to once again discuss my thoughts and reflect upon how these have progressed since
#60
as well as my doctorate research and interest in isometric strength

This is more than recovery. Success is the outcome of many variables however fun and competition are paramount. Surely H won with those flippers
Eventually got to go to Gunther Von Hagens Body Worlds. Couldn’t recommend this high enough. S&C education doesn’t expose students to anatomy/cadavers like medical pathways. Understand the body, have clinical reasoning, select optimal interventions
Never felt so disenfranchised from the “S&C community”. We began with common interests, open dialogue, debate & a thirst for progress. We now only have outlandish remarks, cliques, zero mutual respect. The problems within our industry that “we” complain about we now simply fuel
Incredible stuff by
@WayneRooney
and his Derby outfit this season.
To have been deducted 21 points, a transfer embargo slapped on them, and now within just 9 points of safety, is pretty remarkable.
Major props to
@lukegatus
and his performance staff 🙌

A huge requirement for mobility and control through torso:pelvic disassociation. As
@caldbeck89
states “32% of sprints in football are completed with Upper/Lower Body Separation”. This must inform practice
@ground_guru
Information overload; yesterday I was privy to two ridiculous statements about training. These people genuinely believed their statements because they had seen it from a “credible” source (follower numbers). We must teach not just critical thinkers but BS filtration systems
The team behind the team - it’s been a pleasure to work and develop with this Performance and Medical team. Excited for a productive off season and getting ready for the 2024 season here

It’s really worrying how long it has taken for people to begin to be sceptical about the acute:chronic work ratio as a theory. An oversimplification of some poor external and internal data. Due diligence is a must when utilising such methods in an applied context
Happy New Year to all, incredible to think how the world of sports science / S&C has progressed in the last decade: where will it be in 2030?.....hopefully no longer scaremongering, arguing whether you should Nordic or not and stop performing circus tricks in the gym
Never thought I would write a lecture on non linear pedagogy and use the analogy of playing roulette. Increasing the possible outcomes in your favour

Note to athletes; end of the season is close, you’re motivated for preseason. Great! But don’t forget you have some highly qualified “performance coaches” at your disposal. Running on treadmills turned off, battle ropes, circuits with “fast feet” @ Globo-Gym isn’t necessarily S&C
Thank you so much for the support in yesterdays Everesting challenge. 8848m climbed in 14hrs 13mins raising (so far) over £1200 for

On Sunday I will be completing an Everesting. A simple concept: cycle up any hill and complete reps of it in a single activity until you climb 8,848m - the equivalent height of Mt Everest. I will be doing this to support

Isometrics utilised widely amongst S&C coaches for rehab, pain management and my doctoral research is investigating the use of isometrics from a performance perspective; transference to dynamic performance
Apologies for the delay
@JoClubbSportSci
in my critique of the ACWR. I question the validity of its use, look at some historical longitudinal data finding no predictions or an increased relative risk of non contact soft tissue injuries
29 of the 32 first-round draft picks were two-sport athletes and 14 of the 29 were three-sport athletes. Next time your personal trainer or your coach tells you you need to specialize in football, maybe you really need a new trainer or coach.
Can’t believe how quick the first 4 months of the doctorate have gone. Exciting and daunting times ahead but can’t wait to further the understanding of isometric training and minimal dose repsonse

this is my own critique of the methodology and then applying this to retrospective longitudinal data. There was certainly some considerations but 0 non contact soft tissue injuries were “predicted”

I don’t understand why transparency isn’t engrained within our community. This should be the default to share and develop practice. Improving ourselves as practioners will only aid the development of those that we work with. 1/2
