I had a chance to do an interview with YouTubers who also have an RV and also use mobility scooters, so we talked about me being #fulltimerv and a parttime scooter user and people who lean on you and all those “awesome” accessibility experiences.

Lemme tell you about the last time I went to Ace Hardware. I need to buy a particular wrench for a bolt on my rollator (a kind of walker) that kept coming loose. I had recently had a bad fall where I went flying across a cell phone store floor because the bolt came out. 1/

Now while I was there I filled my propane and got a couple other things, they made a sale. But also while they were fixing it their pastor happened to come and catch them all fixing a disabled woman's walker. So really a win for everyone I would say.

So I go into Ace hardware, and a bunch of good ol boys are sitting inside the front door shooting the breeze. I tell the cashier what I'm looking for and they decided well wouldn't it be better if they just fixed my walker.

They got out some tools, some lock tite. I had been afraid to put lock tite on it when I did it in case I wasn't strong enough to get it put together right and now it was harder to fix. So they fixed it.

@themonaleo A neighboring county wouldn’t let Black peoples in. They had nowhere else to go and tried to cross the bridge and were gunned down on the bridge. I think there are pictures or video… they know who did it, don’t think anyone was charged but don’t remember.

I had gone to Harbor Freight to try to buy one. But me not being very well, and trying to hold my walker upside down in the isle and figure out which wrench set (you can't buy single wrenches there) to get with no service... I gave up because I was going to pass out.

@Sarah_RedMeeple @RachelCDailey Respectfully, this reflects a common misunderstanding about accessibility - that it’s only a right if it is easy or cheap. Rights are rights. If they cost money, even if they cost quite a lot of money, if they are inconvenient to impliment, even very inconvenient, still rights.
