@kitten_beloved You're listing these as if they're AND, but 1. and 2. are not required unless we have a given assumption that we won't develop other architectural models, which is...a weird thing to take as a given. And 3. is obviously overstated: "inevitable" can be replaced with "probable".

@a_real_society Not great, but I'm honor bound to post to address the selection bias. I think I did better last go-round. π© π©π© π©π₯π© π§π©π©π© π©π©π₯π©π© π©π©π©π§π©π§ Percentile: 97.99

@coloneldraught @goblinodds Is "I'll give you money for food, but not for drugs" not support? Because it's obviously conditional.

@Andr3jH @growing_daniel Seems unlikely. Why would gaming journalist be so much better than the rest of journalism?

@Noahpinion We've got a lot of problems right now, but a 1.5 billion people have been lifted out of poverty since then, so... (Oh, 2000s as a whole....only 0.5 billion lifted out of poverty since 2010. nbd, then.)

@notacrankychef @mattyglesias @Austen Betting something will happen and rooting something will happen are different things. I regularly bet on things I hope don't happen. Things I try to prevent.

@cgaunerd @mattyglesias @Austen @Kalshi Based on the proposed tax cuts, looks like the majority are betting the deficit goes *up*.

@bitcoin_opt_in @paulnovosad If you found out the deficit was about $35 trillion less than that, or that the growth of the debt was less than half that much), would you change your mind about the sustainability?

A bunch of professionals journalists read this statistic *and believed it*? The NYT fact checkers saw "the average American uses 1.5 straws per day" and said "sure, why not?" Some day America will have competent journalistic outlets. Some day?
hell yeah, bring back plastic straws! Using plastic straws makes almost no difference to the environment, the reason that they got banned is in 2010, a 9-year old claimed that 500 million of them are used a DAY in a school project (totally wrong) and it went super viral

@bendreyfuss It's a good thing he's only the one with agency, or his family might be the ones killed.

@sullyj3 @mechanical_monk "data" vs "datum" was always an "well, actually π€" distinctionβyou only used "datum" if you were pedantic or had a pedant correct you. "Phenomenon" is (was?) (more) normal than the plural. People defaulted to it.

@PierreGBlanchet @paulg Seems I bought a little at $22 in 2018. Wish I'd sold at the $165 peak. Still up a little, but just gonna keep HODLing.

@Utah_Grump @sam_d_1995 That directly contradicts the numbers in the article. Absolute numbers of reported transit crimes: * Jan 2024: 231 * Jan 2025: 147

@RyanMorey @sam_d_1995 The article shows an absolute number drop in reported transit crimes (Jan 2024: 231; Jan 2025: 147)
