As a whole, I’m very happy that we are finally embracing what the rest of the world has known for decades: that cities and streets are for people first. My hope is that we build upon this and eventually pedestrianize most of Gastown permanently. /end

One of the most underrated aspects of blocking off car traffic is the reduction in noise. Now, we’re hearing it replaced by more pleasant sounds like that of this marimba. 3/

I found the fenced in patio setup to be a bit weird. It feels more like a place for storing livestock than for people to dine out. These were both located in areas without car traffic so I don’t see why such a fence is needed. You don’t see this in Italy. 5/

Even with the “car light” designation, some blocks still had a surprisingly high number of cars, especially between Abbott and Cambie. I saw quite a few taxis. I would like to see driving restricted to only local use in the future as it does hurt the vibe. 7/
