Fleet St 77-79. TV from 1980. Producer of Documentaries, Sport, Entertainment for YTV C4 BBC SKY SPORTS. Proudest work Dispatches: Accident Waiting to Happen C4
Yesterday, unexpectedly, I found myself watching entire Harry & Meghan Netflix series in one go. I wanted to see if a) the production was any good and b) if, in the light of the criticism of it by some, my mind would be changed. It was well made and my support for them enhanced..
Perhaps those having a go at Miriam Margolyes re her comments about "nasty" Terry Scott may like to also reflect on the fact that June Whitfield said the same of her former co-star. Were she alive I wonder if the Union Jack obsessed Twitter folk would call her names. Doubt it.
..countries about the historic crimes of Britain. Glad series was not simply about one couple but covered history of UK, the Royal family & race. This series was clearly aimed more at a foreign market than UK viewers. I stayed engaged in series & fail to comprehend why M is hated
by so many. It can only come down to a) her being mixed race b) being thought of only as an actress and/or c) that she spoke truth to power. I know that so called royal correspondents know truth of why brothers fell out, newspaper editors & some broadcasters know. That M provided

For as long as I can remember, Palace has been woeful when it comes to their own PR & dealing with controversies. You have to go back decades since they had a reliable press officer. It is possible to be supportive of H&M but not be against royals. But they don’t make it easy.
a shoulder for her sister in law to cry on, not the other way around. That H is not the villain. He’ll never reveal it all in same way he won’t say which family member asked ‘how black will the baby be?’ And editors won’t print the truth as they never did in 70’s re Prince Philip
the press and social media, the institution will now come for them. In that sense it was a mistake to do the Netflix series. But how else could they tell their side of the story? Their truth. I remain baffled why people hate. The best quotes came from her mother &

the institution and the press feed off each other, need each other and will continue to lie to the public and promote only a positive image in hope of preserving the institution. Anyone who gets in the way is to be fed to the wolves. I don’t think H&M can ‘win’ and with help of..

All wrong. Bang out of order. Feel for you and crew. But this is Brexit Britain. What did you expect? Your employer facilitated it. Some BBC programmes virtually promoted it.
Very sad news re Jonnie Irwin. Never had the pleasure of working with him but know I would have liked to. He appeared more genuine and empathetic when dealing with the public on A Place in the sun. Gone far too young.
There’s only one act of treachery here. And the press know who the guilty party is (spoiler alert: it’s NOT Harry). I said they’d come for him. They are.

46 years on, nothing has changed. Women still not safe on the streets. Many killers never brought to justice. Including the rapist and murderer of my friend Lynne Weedon (September 1975).

Brian Blessed on Mike Hodges directing Flash Gordon “Peter Wyngarde played evil Klytus. He was a bit vain and said ‘I don’t think I should die, people are going to love my character.’ Mike said: “You come in, they throw you on the spike, your eyes come out & you’re bloody dead.”
@Channel4News
@krishgm
The interview in full is heartbreaking. “I don’t know where my students are. Where my colleagues are. I might be dead by tomorrow.” She’s very critical of her own government. “They’ve sold us out.”
Friend who was the cameraman found in his mother’s loft a VHS of us working at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. Wow! Had forgotten how many interviews I undertook. Trust me to interview Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai without knowing she was a former Miss World (how we laughed)...
Man on telly owns a lovely Westie for 9 years. Clearly loves the dog but hands him over to

because a two year old child he fosters taunts the dog, pulling its tail and the dog scratched the child. I know which I’d be handing back and it wouldn’t be the dog!

Well done
@AlexScott
for standing up for Steve Bruce today and making yourself heard despite being so patronised and talked down to by male colleagues, most notably Ruud Gullitt. You won support while they came over as uncaring and arrogant with their snide comments

As a friend has said, it’s Mr.Carson who Geoffrey Cox impersonates. More so than Brian Blessed. But, people, make no mistake. This performance is for you & the media to be DISTRACTED from the fact that government acted “unlawfully” and that he, the Attorney General, cocked up.

Well, Linda. If you spot any, they'll likely be the ones working all hours, without proper protection equipment, to save lives. Including your miserable existence. Like the three 'foreign' doctors who have given their lives to save xenophobes like you.
True story. Couple land at Malaga airport. Get in taxi. Driver politely asks them to wear a mask. It’s the law. They refuse. He asks again. Twice. They refuse. He calls Guardia Civil who tell driver to meet them at next roundabout. They fine the couple 1000 Euros. Each. Hurrah!

Ghastly Sarah Vine allowed to call Prince Harry “arrogant, sexist and a little bit racist” by

She also said “young people are very sympathetic to Harry & Meghan because they talk a lot of young persons language, about mental health & all that stuff”
Why aren’t you coming over here? I am asked. Spain = 35 cases per million people. UK = 650 cases per million people. There’s your answer. Stay home. Save lives. Including your own.
I’ve long said (since he ghostwrote the ace ‘Open’ by Andre Agassi) that I would pick talented J.R. Moehringer to write my autobiography (not that they’d ever be a demand for one). It makes sense that he has ghostwritten

Aside from being another philanderer in a government led by one, Matt Hancock has long claimed he had spent every waking minute working to protect the public from the pandemic.
He clearly hadn’t.
That broadcasters ever again hired Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross after their appalling telephone answering machine message left for Andrew Sachs says all you need to know about broadcasting standards today and the attitude of those who make such decisions in TV.
Tobias Elwood claims the PM told him that if the Theresa May withdrawal bill comes back for another vote, and if the ERG members vote against it, they too will be expelled from the party. Wonder if that includes Rees Mogg.
84 tonnes of PPE arriving in the UK from Turkey! Remember Turkey? It was prominent in Dominic Cummings scare tactics and lies inspired Vote Leave campaign “£350 million and Turkey.” Keep telling voters: “£350 million and Turkey.”
@AlanKelloggs
As the other Vernon, who worked for that Vernon for a few years, I concur that Harry was a very kind, talented and generous man. The only star I saw give Christmas bonus envelopes to all the canteen workers at YTV. They loved him.
@scribblercat
Almost everyone in the press knows the truth. But will not print. As they haven’t down the decades when it risked upsetting the Palace and wouldn’t be accepted by their readers. Easier to turn on one loving couple than reveal the real guilty parties.
One of the loveliest, kindest, down to earth members of the acting profession I ever had the privilege to meet. She even put up with me reciting lines from The Blood Donor.
So sad to hear that Dame June Whitfield has passed away. She appeared in Hancock's Half Hour and Hancock for the BBC, including her famous role in 1961 as the nurse in the Blood Donor, and all six episodes of Hancock's for ABC TV in 1967
I boycotted the establishments decades ago. When they started playing music and allowed children in. So happy to support

Memo to all, including self. Remember who is the real villain here. SUE ELLEN (her real name) BRAVERMAN. And her cohorts. Don’t be distracted from the policy.
If you think that’s a

They’ll tell you what a true lockdown looks like
To all commentators on sport. When you are tempted to use the word “hero” about a footballer or some such, stop and think. THIS is what a true hero looks like.

He’s being used as a patsy. As the more acceptable, middle of the road face when leadership and unions have no intention of permitting a Remain vote. JC wants out of EU more than he wants keys to No.10. He always has.

But he went to rugger with his pregnant other and 81.000 others the same week he did not go to Covid Cobra meetings. The same week of much criticised Cheltenham Festival. The same month he met pandemic sceptics.
Doesn’t matter how much you are into political history, please do NOT buy the David Cameron book. He doesn’t need the money. You don’t need to get angry. Donate the cost of buying the book to a good cause.
Good to tell who came down from the north wearing a t-shirt. The one and only

With me, a soft southerner wearing thermals, shirt and jumper (baby, it’s cold inside). Great to see Rory for first time since 2013 and to meet smashing Jiwani family of Madrileños.

Friend of friend, Lina and her three children sheltering in their basement in this city. Listening to the bombs landing yesterday. Hoping they’re still alive.
Feel for Gareth Southgate. A good man who fans didn’t want to have the job in the first place. They wanted the Allardyce way. Look at progress they’ve made under Southgate. England conceded only 2 goals in tournament. He and those boys, for that is what most are, deserve credit.
@poems2022
Guarantee that you could still find several people to vox pop on the streets who would say “Boris is funny/a good guy/I’d vote for him again tomorrow.” Many of those voters would be of the age group Johnson was happy to die.
A Ken Dodd special at YTV in 80’s cancelled due to one of many, regular technician strikes. Star guests left. Doddy stayed on and did a two hour show for the disappointed audience. Best Light Entertainment show never televised. Wet myself laughing.

Grant Shapps moves departments more often than I change my socks. Just as well there are three of him. Or is it four? And yet another change at so called 'Culture, Media and Sport.' Wonder what her opinion is re C4 & bookies.

Because one is

The Movers and Shakers episode in which the other halves had their say was very moving. Listened to intently in this house. Thanks all.
As the scenes in Downing Street and Westminster prove, Brexit has always been an English disease. Not a UK one. The white only mob is singing ‘Jerusalem’ and waving the St. George’s Flag. Xenophobic, unintelligent racists looking for a scene stealing fight with the police.
Managing Director of Aviation Recruitment network on shortage of staff in airport support: “Brexit has had a massive impact on recruitment. We’ve lost those with a second language, which is a massive loss.”

Didn’t know the last bit. Shame. He’s wrong re Lineker. Has a right to speak as much as anyone else. I’ll choose to remember the best days of Des, on radio especially.
Legend of Fleet Street. With the greatest. Reg had to choose whether to jump left or right for D-Day landings. He chose wrong, stood on a mine, lost a leg and lived with the consequences for decades to come. Instead of becoming a boxer, he wrote about them. Brilliantly.
Hall of Fame broadcaster Reg Gutteridge gets a surprise visitor from Muhammad Ali whilst receiveing treatment at Hammersmith Hospital in 1989. Gutteridge would write in his autobiography that he awoke to find Ali praying beside him and thought he was hallucinating!!
@campbellclaret
Too few of the public care any longer. They’ve ‘moved on.’ See photos of the beaches today. You need strong, decisive leadership to get across a clear message. UK has none of that. Deliberately and through incompetence.
@PoliticalPics
Oh what a tangled we weave. The lengths this PM will go to in order to persuade MP’s to vote for her deal rather than the country suffer a catastophic no deal. Why did the fella not simply pose to camera with it? Pathetic!
@Jack_Royston
@1EllieMay5
It’s been that way since at least the 70’s to my sure and certain knowledge. Did they ever publish what they had on Prince Philip? No. Palace leak more than a sieve. Come to agreements with press. ‘Don’t print that and we’ll give you this.’ Gone on for decades, incl re Diana.
