4v4 is my favorite even numbers playing environment in lacrosse. Endless parameters can be applied as well. @TomMariano81

While this might seem all a bit revolutionary, in 2003 Manchester Utd ran a study with other academy U9 teams comparing 8 v 8 with 4 v 4. The results were significant. Over the course of 15 matches, they found the 4 v 4 players had: - 585 more passes - 481 more scoring attempts - 301 more goals - 525 more 1 v 1 duels - demonstrated 436 more dribbling skills. As significant was the the positive feedback from players, coaches and parents. In fact, 75% of players said they preferred the 4 v 4.

I firmly believe that HS coaches who have a background coaching another sport have a tremendous advantage if that knowledge is applied correctly!

We know players benefit from a broad database of skills from multiple sports. The same is true for coaches. Need a refresh? Look at another sport.

@CoachMattCarp An additional variable is release time. Getting a ball out of your stick faster thus giving the goalie a shorter reaction time can be a greater advantage than velocity in many cases. Thoughts?

Love how every rep is just slightly different, from the ball entry/direction to the actions of defenders every rep is novel! Great comms and chirping too!

Embracing the chaos:Chaos Passes drill was all about movement, communication, and decision-making under pressure. If someone doesn’t have the ball, it’s on us to talk, adjust, and make it happen. Perfect practice for those unpredictable game moments @coachgarland1 @lax_coach21

Coaches have been sharing some great drills and training concepts on X lately. I think the next step is coaches posting some practice plans this spring showing how these are being applied on a daily/weekly basis. Thoughts?

@22classy Players who communicate on and off the field, who can affect play without the ball as much as with it, who understand the natural flow of a game and recognize the critical moments when making the simplest of plays is what matters most.

As a coach you need to keep learning for sure. That’s the fun of it as far as I’m concerned. Getting better at something you really love!

@coachbatista34 Sad but true. Also so many are risk averse so trying something out if their comfort zone feels riskier than doing what you’ve always done?

My coaching changed dramatically when I realized these points. Practice is the lab! And it’s going to be all over the place sometimes!

Learning is messy. Growth is difficult. Practice isn’t a choreographed rehearsal, it’s a lab to experiment and explore. Great pod from ⁦@transformbball⁩ with guest Jeff Schmidt. @snipd_app. - save & remember the best insights you hear in podcasts

I love when coaches create snappy scientific sounding terms to convince parents what they are doing is the “only way” or “cutting edge” when good coaches have been doing that for decades without the need to validate it.

This is not complicated. Private schools play against their own. Putting them together is ridiculous. Completely unfair playing field. Do we really need a bill?

A lot of discussion on here regarding training and development in lacrosse. It has value ONLY if people are willing to allow oppositional viewpoints and have meaningful discussion. There is a major difference between real evidence and opinions.

@imdunntweeting Great idea, similar to sixes style. Will help offensive development as much as defensive

For a third straight year, the @NFHS_Org and @USA_Lacrosse has deemed eyeblack (aka eyeshade) as their #1 point of emphasis. They won't ever comment but I'd love to hear the rationale about why this is so important. PLEASE explain!!
