My husband "misdialed" and got his cousin. They hadn't talked in a long time so he just pretended it was intentional. They had a long conversation, talked about his battle with cancer and ended with a promise to sail the San Juan Islands soon.
We just got a text that he died.

How many of these folks could have been helped by their local general practitioner? Probably many. By imposing ridiculous deductibles, insurance companies have forced people to wait until their situation is dire. They end up sicker, in long lines at the emergency room. It sucks.

At my age, our parents are long gone. It's our friends that are aging. As I left France after seeing a good friend, I burst into tears. Her daughter asked me why I was emotional. I told her I was afraid I'd never see her mother again.
She passed away last summer.
