@gemmajbrennan @markrwilliamson That is common in international technical specifications now for a few years: no more blacklist/whitelist, master/slave etc in computing, IT any more. Nothing new.

@jwiechers Why does the linked article say that it is an internal Air Wisconsin flight then? (as opposed to BA)

@veronica_humble @NathanpmYoung It is penny pinching, but I have volunteered at AMSP events and they have generally been about promoting Core Maths (L3+ functional skills) to pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. This seems to be a separate aspect of it to providing support to teachers of Further Maths

@benjyminty @EllaRobertaFdn Precisely - or rather only limited by practical commuting range, which was the point

@EllaRobertaFdn Why was it up to the researchers (campaigners?) - they wanted a story published (and got one): tick. If journalist asked the (basic functional maths Q) and didn't get an answer then could have killed the story (or qualified it).

@EmilTschepp @RossMcCaff @HCH_Hill @BIforPeace @seatsixtyone Have to say that the couchette mattress on the (rather old) carriage towards Toulouse was relatively thin, even if the carriage motion was quite gentle. Well set up for what it was. Simple boarding. Shared with 2 other people (m+f) and a dog...

@RossMcCaff @HCH_Hill @BIforPeace @seatsixtyone But plenty of the sleepers in France offer couchettes with up to six berths out of Gare de Austerlitz - euro 80 to Toulouse a couple of years ago. I agree not for everyone, but why ban outright?

@Pushk1n9 @PJTheEconomist @thetimes If you want to have a say on cost control, you will need to establish enough capacity to enable competition and/or have capital to set up non-profit type models.

@veronica_humble Hopefully not the 'Train mafia' variant described in the (sizeable Wiki entry)...

@EvanKirstel Shades of what BT in the UK is already doing - but rural USA has less (and poorer quality) broadband. FWA/wireless backhaul option is good, as compatible with alarms - presumably feasible because US telco prices so high compared with Europe

RT @SepuraLtd: Are you looking for a new role and want to work for an organisation whose products make a real, often lifesaving, difference…

@rleder @quichwe10 @eyeslasho We don't know the statistical significance of the women's studies results since it just says < 500. Also are these all the same year: I assume broad range of students have to take Maths, but Women's studies a niche option.

@BBCNewsnight @nicholaswatt The whole point of getting the extra time is to level the results up to adjust for the condition, so, compared with state schools not doing the testing, always going to be an advantage...

@markrwilliamson @CambsCC Is the impact of the proposed changes in reducing the land value taken in to account?
