@KenBoessenkool @dieworkwear @YesItsjust Buying/wearing the Cowichan sweatercoat would not constitute “cultural appropriation” but rather “cultural appreciation”. Just be sure to source from authentic outlets.

There's WAY TOO MUCH of this happening this winter. I'm on Highways 11/17/69/400 chatgroups. See dashcam videos of close/tragic calls like this regularly. Not just transport trucks-also passenger vehicles. No respect for the road. Or fellow Canadians. It needs to stop.

More of this in 2025 and beyond. As growing intolerance for govt overreach moves us to push for sovereignty-whether personal, community, national-it’s time to challenge outdated systems of control that no longer serve us. Let’s prioritize freedom, responsibility, and the right to self-determination.

As a huge baseball fan, I welcomed the invitation to attend the Canadian premiere of “Israel Swings for Gold”, a film by @MenemshaFilms and @IBFilms held last night in Toronto. This documentary tells the incredible story of Israel’s baseball team, who qualified for and competed in the Olympics for the first time in 2021. With no media allowed in the 2021 Olympic Village due to pandemic restrictions, the players documented their own journey – revealing their battles against anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, as well as their wins on and off the field. The film captures some powerful moments - some that resonated with me: the team hanging Israel’s flag in the Olympic Village for the first time since the tragedy at the 1972 Olympics where 11 Israelis were killed, players honouring their grandparents who had survived the Holocaust, the persistence it took to secure the first-ever win for an Israeli team sport at the Olympics – and so much more. Very much appreciated insights and perspectives (and humour!) from guest speakers: Broadcaster Dan Shulman, Columnist Shi Davidi, Former Toronto Blue Jay Spencer Horwitz, CEO Israel Baseball Nate Fish, and others. It’s worth your while to check it out. The film is available on Apple and Prime streaming platforms. LINK TO THE TRAILER HERE 🔗 :

@MelissaMbarki They're pulling back on that, too, though! (ish?) ... it's appropriation/theft of ideas/solutions. It's wild to me. And media not covering any of it. But I suppose they're paid not to...

"It is an understatement to say that this issue undermines the integrity of programs like PSAB, disadvantages genuine Indigenous entrepreneurs, and disrespects the public dollar." 📑Last month, I was invited to appear at Indigenous and Northern Affairs Committee on Indigenous procurement and pretendianism. I had alot to say 💬: "On face value, this data, albeit limited, shows growth in entrepreneurship among Indigenous people across Canada. However, we now have a strong and compelling reason to question the validity of this data, given the rise in appropriation of Indigenous identity, also referred to as "pretendianism", and the rise in fraudulent bids, all done to gain access to and advantages in federal procurement opportunities. It is an understatement to say that this issue undermines the integrity of programs like PSAB, disadvantages genuine Indigenous entrepreneurs, and disrespects the public dollar."
.@karenrestoule provides crucial insight on the failures of federal Indigenous procurement services, with mounting concerns over identity fraud, lack of capacity building, and need for stronger safeguards:
