A new installment of the Fruitless Bookclub is here! We discussed And Forgive Them Their Debts by Michael Hudson, where he looks at Bronze Age debt practices & how they influenced the religious traditions of the Near East.

Every community that has "no autism" will then also be like "oh yeah, that’s just Jonathan. He doesn’t make eye contact much, but he’s incredible at woodworking" or something like that.
Random Twitter fascist guy in a suit: Uh, this is what masculinity looks like
Menswear guy: Actually, your jacket ends close to the waistline which makes it more of a women’s jacket, & fix the collar gap,…
Me, mustard on gray t shirt I’ve been wearing for a week: get his ass,
In this clip from 1994, Leeds student Liz Truss tells ITV News the idea of the monarchy is 'disgraceful'.
Today she meets the queen to be appointed as the new PM.
Trying to believe both a) the whole "how would you feel if you didn’t eat breakfast this morning" thing must be a genuine representation of people’s mental faculties, and also b) being incapable of basic human empathy or actual hypothetical thinking doesn’t make them dumb.
It’d be funny if the Episcopal Church had the whole weirdly abrasive reactionary convert syndrome issue that Catholics and Orthodox have. Just imagining a whole congregation of stunned elderly democrats watching some schizo kid in crusader armor explain how based Anglicanism is
@ButtUglyBabies
@GSOYankee
Elaborate on that. Are you saying that genocide researchers and the ICJ are bigots, or are you denying the Bosnian genocide right now?
[Every Republican congressman suddenly stands up] now that Roe v Wade has been dismantled, it’s time for the real prolife work. That’s right, we’re going to build a strong welfare state. We’ve all been leftcath socdems this whole time, and it was your fringe posts that helped us.
The entire book of Jonah is genuinely hilarious if you read it as a parody of prophetic books. He’s this terrible prophet, he immediately disobeys God, and when he gets to Nineveh, everyone is like "oh dear, we will repent immediately!"
The Bible is a serious book. But it does have some funny moments in there, you gotta admit. What moment in the Bible do you find funny or makes you laugh?
they should give all the college debt to one guy. everyone else clear, one guy 2 trillion in the hole. but no loophole for the guy. his punishments should be real and meaningful
i muted this when it had 70 likes and now just saw this. That’s crazy. I stole this meme from Facebook. I have a podcast and a Substack I guess you can check out
In a (undergrad) history course in college, I was supposed to submit a rough draft for a paper and then meet with the prof for revisions. When I got to her office she quietly read my paper and then said, "This is so weird… the other professors told me you were a good writer."
Hello! I’m a service worker in Des Moines, IA right now. You may be in town for the caucus right now. That’s cool. Please don’t be an asshole to workers. We’re trying our best, but most of the restaurants or coffee shops in the area aren’t used to this quantity of people.
When sex positive posts annoy me, i become sex negative. When sex negative posts annoy me, i become sex positive. As for my actual views, i don’t believe sex is real
There’s this really annoying and condescending attitude in arguments like this that seems to believe people 2000 years ago were not aware that people don’t raise from the dead.
This tweet inspired me to google stages of human decomposition. (Don’t do this)
By day 3, given no intervention like mummimifaction, embalming etc, the body is literally “eating itself” and liquefying from the inside out. Logic doesn’t allow for the acceptance of the Jesus myth.
Like, I don’t expect most people, especially nonreligious people, to care about religious history or whatever, but certainly "the Bible was written in the 15th century" is something you should know is wrong with an elementary school history education right?
“He’s not your son, he’s dead" is an insanely freakish thing to say and exactly why the whole "they’re weird" line about conservatives has worked so well.
Wow
Jill Biden just said “our son Beau”.
He’s not your son,
@DrBiden
.
1. He’s dead
2. His mother was the woman who died in a car accident while you were having an affair with Joe Biden.
Why does Jill Biden lie and say another woman’s son is her son?
It’s so gross.
Now is when the real prolife moment begins, where five very online left catholics will seize control of the state apparatus and institute, like, paid leave or something. This is a very serious political persuasion and not at all LARP
Check out Fruitless, I guess. A podcast I do. It’s not about being Amish or autistic. Uh I did a video essay about zombies one time. You could check that out. Feel free to make fun of me for both of those things in the replies to this.
In New York we are witnessing what will be the downfall of the DSA: the christofascist unitarian univeralist wing of the party which has now shown its ugly head
me, most of the time: Death to Amerikkka. The empire of moloch must be crushed. 1000 9/11s must reign down on it.
Me, when Europeans try to shame a dude for wearing pjs in a gas station:
It honestly feels like a joke that a thread where a guy is horrified by his sister being married off to a groomer is currently being bombarded by accounts called LolitaCath69 or NaziPedo who are calling him a loser
They’ve had an explanation for this fire for several years now and we still keep getting guys with the leviathan frontispiece as their avi posting "where were the jews on april 15, 2019 🧐"
What I don’t understand about a lot of extremely liberal Christianity is just why even remain Christian. If Christ crucified did not resurrect, I’d be sleeping in on Sundays.
@keepbobbin
I’m really baffled when people’s issue with Christianity is Jesus, the Passion, or the Resurrection. Even when I went through a period of being an atheist, my issue was struggling to believe any of it happened, but I always thought it was good/beautiful.

Rashomon is a Japanese film about a bunch of people recalling a crime but they all have different recollections of what happened.
Actually, the Bible never condemns slavery...
[faucet water starts to turn to blood]
...It is clearly stated by God that slavery is fine...
[starts itching boils on skin]
...but the wisdom of it is case by case.

Anyway. I wonder where my son went,
Sometimes I think about this 4chan post I saw floating around one time where a guy was happily dating a beautiful Latina woman and then got redpilled and realized that he needed to break up with her to avoid race mixing, so he ruined his very good life because of weirdos online
This is a bit of a common practice globally, and it’s prevalent specifically in the American South. Even then, this specific use seems to be coming out of starvation conditions, so what’s the own here? "Ha ha Haiti is starving"?
I was born in 2004 so whenever I heard the phrase "Kony 2012", I always assumed it was some embarrassing independent presidential campaign I knew nothing about, but Im just now learning it was a grassroots campaign to get the US to invade Uganda????
If we do not fight back, we may lose the party to these crusaders who will force everyone to believe in a sort of energy or metaphor to live your life by
@BoltzmannBooty
The main reason this song resonates with so many people isn’t political. It’s because the song is raw and authentic. We are suffocated by artificiality. Everything around us is fake. A guy in the woods pouring his heart over his guitar is real.
I went to Church this morning
The most Trad Catholic you can get
Rural (you pass cows on the way in)
100% White Irish
The Priest did a speech during the service celebrating the Christian virtue of taking in Refugees
He praised a nearby town that is now 60% immigrants
Like after reading the other prophetic books or narratives, when you do get to Jonah, the parodic parts are actually pretty funny. God literally needing to have the guy get eaten by a fish because he won’t do his one job. It’s great
So much right wing politics boils down to weird resentments about what’s on TV. This is half of what’s behind most of the culture war stuff. It’s rarely any material grievance, it’s about ads feeling more gay or whatever.
He is quite literally the sum of every white male in modern commercials:
- Always the fool
- Subordinate role
- Fat dad
- Bumbling customer
- Ignorant questioner
- Cynical inquirer
It is always sickening when people confuse virtue with Christian virtue.
Christian virtue is poverty.
Christian virtue is ugliness.
Christian virtue is meekness.
Real virtue is excellence.
Real virtue is beauty.
Real virtue is power.
Anyone wanna pay me to advertise a vibrator or something? No? Ok

I talk about religion and leftism mostly. Thanks for the follows.
In Hades, Ramsey called out, 'Father Abraham, please send me a drip of water to cool my tongue.'
'If a drop of water changes your life, you were pretty much screwed already,' he replied.
Fox News guest Dave Ramsey: "I don't believe in a stimulus check because if $600 or $1400 changes your life you were pretty much screwed already. You got other issues going on."
Especially since he’s blamed the divorce on the fact that the state is allowing his wife to divorce him without his consent. I think it’s relevant to see all of this in context now.
At one point
@Simprano_Tony
made a post about how he was glad he had gotten into left politics as a fully formed adult rather than as a teenager because online leftism fucks up people’s brains, and I think about that a lot
I really think this shit needs to be reframed. It’s not that zoomer applicants are lazy or whiny, it’s that previous generations were taught to be enormous pushovers. Yeah, no shit someone didn’t want to do 90 mins of labor for you in order to receive a ‘maybe’ lmfao
Me: really enjoyed the call. Please see attached financial modeling test
Gen Z applicant: this looks like a lot of work. Without knowing where I stand in the process, I’m not comfortable spending 90 minutes in Excel
Me:…well…I can tell you where you stand now
This whole post is a case study in how to use social justice terminology to defend conservatism. Incredible work here. "Westerners." "Gays, women, minorities." "Check your privilege". Incredible stuff
This isn’t just an own or an attempt at cruelty here. I think it’s incredibly telling that he was spending this entire time talking about the evils of feminism, how men should have control of alimony, etc etc while hiding a divorce.
