Super news for Leixlip as €4.8m confirmed for 3 cycling projects. Leixlip Greenway(€4m) will begin March. Green Lane(€300k) & route between Leixlip and Maynooth(€500k) will be later in 2022.Having been involved directly on these I hope people can enjoy them for years to come!

Brilliant to have @LeoVaradkar in Leixlip today & great news with the plans for the innovation campus at the old HP site. 140 jobs announced & plans to have a cycle/pedestrian link between the Wonderful Barn & Castletown & a through road in the campus for the public.

Great news with the commitment of €12bn by @Intel_IRL in Leixlip, Kildare for Fab 34 to the end of 2023. Bringing the number of direct employed to 6,500 & more indirectly this will double capacity. Intel have been here over 30 years & its great to see them as committed as ever!

Leixlip-Maynooth Greenway: Super news. Delighted that the contractor is starting prep work on the Greenway this week.💪. This is a process I’ve worked on & pushed for over a long time. A construction period of 18 months is planned to give us an amenity we can use all year round!

Had an excellent meeting with with An Tánaiste @LeoVaradkar on Friday in Leixlip. We discussed local issues relating to Leixlip/Celbridge & Nth Kildare and how we can support our growing community. Focused also on supporting local business as Covid restrictions are eased.

I tore my Achilles playing football early Christmas week unfortunately. It made it a quiet & sore Christmas instead! Thanks though to all the great Nurses, Doctors & staff in the Mater hospital who helped through the surgery & when I first went in. They were all amazing. 🙏🙏

Great to see the new greenway lit up end to end between the Leixlip train stations. It took longer than I hoped but it got there!. I spoke to the Council again about resolving access issues especially at the Confey end so I am working towards a solution there too.

Really unfair to see the scheduling of the Kildare senior ladies final for 7.30pm of a Friday evening. Wouldn’t happen in the men’s & shouldn’t happen here. Great to see the response from @LeixlipGAA & the team. As 20x20 said “IF SHE CAN’T SEE IT, SHE CAN’T BE IT”.

Leixlip/Maynooth Greenway to be delayed a further 6 months to a year & will have to be re-tendered most likely at a higher cost. Very frustrating. A delay in signing the licence from Waterways Ireland means the process misses the already late Q1 2022 timeline.

I’m delighted to say the Greenway is now open at Louisa Bridge from this evening. That is circa four weeks ahead of the original eight weeks schedule. The next phase will be from Louisa Bridge to Blakestown Crossing.

Leixlip-Maynooth Greenway Update: Works will begin to extend the greenway to Maynooth along the Royal Canal within the next month. This is the 2nd phase of the overall project after the works that were done on the Louisa to Cope bridge section.

Terrible to see the fish kill in Leixlip last night on the river Rye. So unnecessary. The pictures taken here shows the impact well down stream at the Ryevale nursing home. Seems like hundreds of fish dead from initial feedback.

Very proud to attend the 100 year anniversary of @GardaTraffic in Dublin Castle. My parents were in attendance as my Dad was a member for many years. Delighted to also meet @HMcEntee and many friends from near and far. A lovely day.

Now that @AIBIreland have reversed their decision on the 70 branches I look forward to AIB Leixlip getting our cash services restored asap. Their decision was wrong then & still is now.

As agreed at our meeting this evening with the OPW no new car park will be built on the grounds of Castletown house. Some parking will be at the house short-term through the main avenue and pedestrian access will be via the Liffey walk. Negotiations continue with the owner.

An update on the local ecological disaster happening in Leixlip with the killing of hundreds of fish in the gorgeous River Rye. Investigations ongoing but the source at least has been identified. Sadly no fish to be seen this morning.
