I won @LaughingMtg’s #MXPTacoma $20k with Jeskai Control. Deck felt pretty broken, largely happy with my play? Control is not my comfort zone so it was nice to feel like Id grown as a player and was able to navigate the matches. Will probably write up some thoughts, fun event

T4 Sunday pm Modern Challenge w/ UB 🐸. Insanely fun deck, not even sure it’s amazing but it’s a blast to play. Played 1 Tamiyo cuz I have a single pretty copy in paper, 1 ransom cuz that card is so fun to resolve, otherwise copied @Vendilion PT list. Unfort no steamed hams tn 😿

@HigherMTG From an etiquette perspective if you were deterministically lost you should concede I think. Esp in a league where the stakes are relatively lower. In a showcase challenge or similar event I would not expect opps to concede. But conceding when lost is polite imo.

Finished out the weekend in Denver with a nice little result late in the day on Sunday in the Modern 10k to requalify for Dallas. Overall a nice weekend with great friends, we battle again next time. Can’t wait to see everyone in Chicago!

First timed yawg in the challenge last night and finished t4. deck is pretty good. Tron matchup felt rough, and def have some learning to do in the mirror, but had a lot of fun including a sick Takenuma blood artist combo line.

@Rebell_Lily Imagine a friend was playing Amalia and sent u this ss asking: can I block here? You’d presumably say, “no, blocking here is going to lose more often than not blocking, u have to take it cuz xyz.” So you do that but without the friend as a middleman. Same mental pattern mostly.

T8 Modern Chall 64 with Living End. Added night pack ambusher, temp lockdown, and harbinger, moved 1 commandeer to mb. Deck was nice but saw a lot more respect than I was expecting, people adjusting already. :(. wish id played better and added a lush portico. #TeamScrapheap ❤️

@EmmettNeyman @LaughingMtg @puglisi_john Mm unfortunately I’m not sure it’s fixable. The wrath is so backbreaking. Yawg nut draws can always win vs control, but the dynamic might have shifted so the medium draws are just almost never going to. Not sure but it feels like it’s tough. Hope yawg can adapt tho love the deck.

@AndreiMTG in my experience people heavily underrate vibez as a critical component of mtg team process. consideration is usually like 90% results 10% vibes weighted, should be much closer to like 50/50 ish. makes for a much better more effective process.

@JohnRuml this is an awful take tbh, on mtgo you often have cases where food gets delivered or you use the bathroom. “you were down 5 mins” does not translate to “you took five more minutes to make decisions” as it would translate in paper… it just means “five more mins of clock elapsed”.

@conanhawk Modern is in an amazing place right now, with a ton of decks that are extremely expressive. The games themselves are v interesting and interactive, with matchups being relatively close, skill matters more than matchup. Pio feels a lot more play/draw and v polarized matchups.

@MtgMoniz @garyseven84 Some decks are decklists decks and some decks are gameplay decks, amulet tends much more towards the latter. 4 hours of keep/mull discussion, t2/3/4 sequencing, and combo line theory (ie, coaching) will take you 100x farther than any sb guide could with the deck.
