Finished in Top 4 of the GP with

’s Jeskai deck. It’s an honor to work with Team Handshake and I’m overjoyed to be back on the PT with them!!
Played vs Scam every round of the Prelim. Modern is in the Trash right now. Not gonna be playing any more Modern until Not Dead After All ban. If you register Scam, you are statistically 4x more likely to play a Modern Prelim.
it's finally done! as the RCQ season ramps up,
@mtgbentcard
and I have written an extensive guide for UR Phoenix in Pioneer, detailing our conclusions from 🤝 PT testing with sideboarding and strategic plans for Pioneer's top decks.
I wrote an article about communication in Magic -- about how we can improve articulation, precision, and comprehension when we discuss the game. Check it out!
@OliverTomajko
Not a good mindset. I was at this point in the past. Sounds like you've had a lot of small time local success and feel like you can't lose to anyone that's not a pro. It's very detrimental to what your goals are.
7-0 swiss into lose quarterfinals of the legacy challenge, Ledger Shredder was decent and overall the deck is great -- really interesting what's the play attached.
On my flight to Chicago for a week of preparation before

! Feeling extremely grateful to be testing with Team Handshake for my first PT - hoping one of us takes it down 🤝🤝
I wrote a long piece sharing my experience of the last two weeks, from assisting in handshake's PT prep to finishing 4th in the modern GP. if you like old-school tournament reports, I think you'll enjoy it.
Dear parents,
Just because your child is smiling at their phone doesn’t mean they are texting their crush. maybe they're just flashing back Faithless Looting to return Arclight Phoenix to the battlefield.

I think the most important point is that being able to play the game represents a meaningful % of intangible equity you’re ignoring in these calculations
Understandable mistake to make, but I think this is a relatively clear mulligan.
@Rebell_Lily
your process seems very focused on learning to play *by* thinking, but you can only do that effectively if you can play *without* thinking.
as banal as “1000 games” comments seem, they are truthful. so allocate more time for playing, and try to practice developing intuition!
8-0 -> lose quarters of the MOCS Open; had a very nice sealed deck and I'm sad to not convert in the draft, but it's not like I could que for the MOCS anyway👨💻
such a dumb take, the reason we complain after we win tournament is because that is when people will listen to us. we aren't asking for that specific invite, we are asking for wotc to care enough to do something for us. stop acting like you empathize.
Honestly as much as it sucks I don't know what people under 18 are expecting when they enter a tournament where the invite is 18+ only and then they win it.
LSV vs Shota, Mengu vs Finkel
Precise paper mechanics are critical in maintaining mutual understanding between players. They’re also one of the intangible things that make magic beautiful and immaculate, and this is important.
In this guide, Levi and I cover the comprehensive plans for our Izzet Drake deck that took the format by storm after we crushed the MTGO SPTQ last week. We're selling it for $20 or 22 tix, DM one of us to purchase!
Spent the last week working with
@Bullwinkkle6705
on a 24-page guide for the deck we dominated Friday's MTGO Super Qualifier with: Izzet Drakes. If you want to learn how we did it, we explain our matchup plans and card choices in our guide, which we'll update as the meta adjusts!
rhinos🦏is the best deck in modern!

and I have written a comprehensive matchup and sideboard guide for our version of the deck that has been dominating events recently. we're selling it for $20 or 22 tix, DM one of us if you would like to purchase!
This was so much fun, and each of us are very proud of this conversation - improvement is difficult and convoluted and personal but we do our best to work through it!
Episode 76 of the Karnies features me,
@JavierDmagic
, and our teammate
@Bullwinkkle6705
talking about how to improve as a Magic player!
We've thought a lot about this topic before and Isaac was the perfect fit for it - we think we gave good advice!

Give Levi the credit he deserves for this deck (he gave it to me I made like four changes and gave it to
@HouseOfManaMTG
who 4-0d two prelims and now nassif is 15-0 or some shit)
Zoomer deckbuilding cracked🤷♂️
