Our synthetic extremophiles paper is out in its final form!
👉
We now showed these stabilized microbes
-decreased gut pathogens in 🐖
-survived stomach pH
& more
also sent them to 🚀
stay tuned for that story!

Thanks John!
So excited to join as an assistant professor!
If you are excited about microbes or know someone who is DM me! We will use cells+devices to tackle disease & improve food security
BUs highly collaborative depts are essential to launch these ideas off the ground🚀🦠
I'm delighted to announce that microbial devices expert Miguel Jimenez (

) will be joining
@BostonU_BME
in the coming academic year! Please join me in welcoming Miguel.
Our synthetic extremophiles are launching to the ISS right now!

@BCMSpaceHealth
Microbial therapeutics, will they survive the ultimate test?
🧵 /1
We found probiotics are mostly dead!
Instead we (
@J_LHeureux23
) made synthetic extremophiles that survive heat solvents & more
They could treat diseases better, grow crops more sustainably & even help get us to mars
@BCMSpaceHealth
@DARPA
@DoritPhD
So how did we get this tiny microbial device to work in the gut?
Maybe you saw the preprint, so let me highlight some of the new experiments in the final version!
- reversible detection (key to mapping the intestine!)
- microbe protection through ingestion

Postdocs are a critical piece of academic research. They train, fund and push research labs in new directions. There is not enough recognition of their role as professional scientists in terms of salary, title and job benefits.
