1. Plenty of animation chops, much weaker design chops. I really believe that design > animation when it comes to great work. Even just learning the basics (composition, value structure, typography, hierarchy) will be game-changers for most motion designers. 2/5.

2. Overly clever / out-of-the-box portfolio sites. I think 99% of artists should stick with a @squarespace or @AdobePortfolio grid-based layout. Keep it simple. Show me a grid of work, process write ups inside individual posts, and a simple About page. That's all you need. 3/5.

Whoever told you that nobody animates frame-by-frame anymore is quite misinformed. Even if you animate 100% in After Effects, you’ll have keyframes on every frame sometimes.
Yesterday I spent hours learning to do frame-by-frame animation and someone messaged me saying that no one does frame-to-frame anymore and it's a waste of time. Today when I got up I received a message from one of my favorite animators saying that he congratulates me in becoming

Pretty sure we'll end this month with over 1000 artists on @roloworks. And, you know what's even better?. Artists have gotten BOOKED by clients who found them on Rolo. That was, of course, always the intention. but it's still awesome when it actually works. Now, back to work.

Inspired by @menghsueh_lin getting his @rive_app feet wet, I wanted to see how hard it'd be to make a Google-esque spinner. Hover at any point and it will interpolate between 2 animations. No jumps, and this took about 10 minutes to build. 🧪 POTENT. 🧪.
