The analogy is flawed, because here the downward slops represent acceleration periods (upswings). From point A to B, there are no above trend line parts of the curve (slowing down, hard times), only steady and faster pacing compared to the ordinary path

Each transaction has 2 sides (buyer and seller brokerage commissions) so this was flipped and definitely some commission churning involved. A decent broker would have never presented the lower offer if the market clearing price was 50% higher
