Today, during Pride month, my child was bullied for being themself. They choose to wear their pride flag at school today. Two older boys tried (and failed) to rip it off of them, and several others yelled f****t at them and deadnamed them. This has to stop! We need to be better!

It really does belong in schools. It is part of the curriculum to learn about how our government works, what the different roles are, the process of electing a government and what the political parties are. If you don’t believe me, try reading the civics curriculum documents.

I had a call from our PC office, they asked if they could count on my vote, I responded with “you absolutely can not!”. Then I got “oh, you not voting then?”. “I’m a teacher and I will definitely be voting to get rid of PC candidates and to vote for someone who values education.”

How is this normal?!? So far today I have taught one of my classes, then a last minute coverage for another, then another that I happened upon where there was no teacher, then later I have my other class to teach. In my own classes it is just rotating sick kids everyday. Argh!!!

If you are an elementary teacher you could be spending almost 7 hours a day in close contact with your students. That same elementary teacher may spend 4 or 5 hours in close contact with their own children. Makes perfect sense.

Have you tried talking to high school students about why they choose online courses? They know that it is easier with lower standards so the kids can earn higher marks with little effort. The real gold standard are the courses taught by all the amazing teachers in this province.

I honestly don’t know if I can afford to run my extra curriculars this year. With increased gas and food costs alone that really hurts my budget. The number of times we spend our own money on food, materials, and travel expenses for these things it just may not be possible.

We got our N95s, the kids masks were 💩. No HEPAs and no RATs. Students are eating lunch in the classroom or leaving school. Previous memo from the board says staff cannot eat together, so no good spot for lunch. Many are eating in cars, I’m opting to just wait until I get home.
