@JackPerksPhoto @Freshwaterhabs @LincsPondPlants Hi Jack - you’ve got a handful of stonewort there - maybe Chara vulgaris (the commonest one) but you can’t really confidently identify this from a distance. Did it smell rather garlicky?

Sitting right beside one of Britain's hottest of hot spots for freshwater biodiversity (the Thompson and Stow Bedon pingos) this is a great example of how to build out from the best and recover buried treasures hidden below the surface in 'ghost ponds' @carlsayerUCL.

The resurrection of a #ghostpingo #pond. One of 10 in-filled ancient pingos that we have restored on @NorfolkWT land close to Thompson Common. We have recorded 57 wetland plants over 2 years. That is a gain of 57 plant species!!! Boom. @hburningham @tim_holt_wilson

It’s #WorldWetlandsDay A pondscape is a network of ponds of different sizes and depths spread across the landscape, providing habitats for more species than a single waterbody of the same size and multiple ecosystem services for people. #PONDERFUL film:

The Teesmouth dune slacks are wetter than they've been for a few years. Seasonal dune wetlands are rich but fragile habitats; it's estimated that 30-49% of slacks on the Atlantic & Baltic coasts of Europe disappeared during the second half of the 20th century.
