If you think you’re exhausted by the General Election, spare a thought for Labour candidate Joe Powell who is fighting London’s most marginal seat - Kensington & Bayswater.
He’s doing “double shifts” of babysitting and door knocking after his wife gave birth to twins last week
Spare a thought today for the staff of losing MPs - they’re losing their jobs too, days before christmas, having spent the last six weeks setting aside their families and social lives to put all their energy into campaigning.
Wait yes I do. Here. The priority for housing should be people who need to get to breakfasts and networking events?! Not the people who are paid much less to cook the breakfasts, serve drinks, clean venues, etc?
@cardiffbites
This is a constant frustration for me too. I’m 32 so also definitely a millennial but too old for ‘young people’ stuff, too old for millennial railcard, etc. We become invisible in the stats when actually it’s our age group who had a huge early career impact from the 2008 crash
In the Thatcher years you had to wait week to week then until the next year for each episode of ‘government pushes country into further crisis’ but Liz Truss is of the Netflix era so she’s apparently bingeing through the lot in a fortnight

They are included in the baby boxes new parents receive in Finland, complete with little reflectors on the hood for when it gets dark early. The best of outfits.
If lockdown happens I would totally pay
@NTLive
(or other theatre/performing arts orgs) for back catalogue streams of shows... is that a thing they could do?
I’m not suggesting we shouldn’t do our best to improve housing opportunities for young professional workers, of course we should, but that’s no reason to ignore the many other people who also need housing
I think Sir John Curtice has hit the nail on the head on BBC News: it’s simply not possible to forget attending a funeral on zoom or saying goodbye to a loved one on an iPad, only to find out that the PM was partying
Lots of praise for
@Keir_Starmer
and Labour’s plan for the country on the doors in West Lancashire this evening. My highlight was the woman who told me she’ll be voting Labour this time after 6 decades as a conservative voter 🌹

members on strike today - great to be able to join pickets at Paddington, Kings Cross and New Cross Gate who are all standing united for a fair deal on pay

How is there any need for this in the Sunday Times Culture magazine today? Disgusting comments by Camilla Long who should be utterly ashamed.
@ChingfordChrisS
@JohnTheJourno
Yep staff do their day jobs (continuing open casework, for example) and use any leave/TIL to campaign as well as giving up all their evenings and weekends. The purpose of my tweet was compassion so perhaps we could stick with that rather than bringing negativity to the thread 👍🏻
Coming to you on Sunday at 2.45 on BBC1 the

We demand better!
Proud to march with my union

and Labour’s New Deal for Working People which will strengthen rights at work and make it easier for workers to organise.
My first ever Grand Central train. Will definitely be my last. Wish the alternative one hadn't been £112 🤬 (but tell me again how we don't need the extra capacity of HS2…)
It is so important to remember that the reason so kids are hungry is because the Tories have spent the last decade driving down wages and capping benefits. Most parents would definitely prefer to be able to afford good food for their kids but when that's not an option, FEED THEM!

These daily news briefings are very important but quite depressing. Can we petition to have them followed by 30 minutes of GoatCam Live from Llandudno? 🐐🐐🐐
It’s sickening how many people from politics and the media are ‘heartbroken’ about a hate-fuelled attack but can’t see how their rhetoric, pandering to the far right and marginalising people and communities has created an atmosphere where these horrific things can happen
Labour’s New Deal for Workers will improve the world of work for everyone across the economy.
Thanks

Campaigning today in West Lancashire for

ahead of Thursday’s by-election. The message on the doorsteps is clear: people are fed up of this government and can’t wait to vote in a Labour one 🌹
Tory on

saying it's not right to make a political issue of who has been awarded lucrative government Covid contracts and how. Nbf but I'm pretty sure the spending of public money is an *extremely* political issue and we all have an interest in this scrutiny.
Nanna is 89 today 🎂 She got her first smartphone a few months ago and she’s getting good at joining in with the family WhatsApp group. Loves a selfie. Legend. ❤️
The people of Wales are thrilled that the Welsh Secretary has renamed a bridge. We definitely wouldn't have preferred the tidal lagoon pathfinder project or rail electrification to Swansea 🙄🙄🙄
What a great place to be getting our vote out - I love living in this area!
Use all three votes for Labour in Surrey Docks on Thursday:
🗳 Amandeep Singh Kellay
🗳 Callum Parrish
🗳 Jen Thornton
Fantastic campaign by rail unions, disability and passenger groups to save railway ticket offices.
These plans were always unacceptable and it's right that the government has u-turned on them in the face of public pressure.
What a refreshing joy.

with respectful debate, a few nice jokes, genuine questions and genuine answers about how to take the country forward. The grown ups are back in charge 😊
Excellent from

My cousin's primary school class had a Pride festival today. I can't even imagine how amazing and impactful this would have been when I was at school 😭
Section 28 has left such long legacies. We must never let that happen again.
This is utterly vile. How can anyone believe it’s ‘unacceptable’ for local gov election candidates to keep their home addresses private? Particularly in a climate where barely-veiled threats on politicians’ lives are broadcast on the actual news. Grim.
Standing at the Sky’s Edge was absolutely excellent this evening. Top quality in every respect from acting to lights. And I’m delighted that live music is so prominent and so visible throughout

Downing Street has released some photos of Prime Minister Keir Starmer walking up the No 10 staircase, surrounded by the portraits of his predecessors.
A Bend It Like Beckham sequel where it's 2019, the

In early 2021, I went to a funeral on Zoom. If the Prime Minister thinks that's the kind of thing people forget, he is very much mistaken.

Is it inconceivable to imagine that women might also enjoy football and cricket chat? What I would actually like is for men to stop assuming I don’t have an opinion on last night’s cup game or the merits of VAR.

Least believable thing about Happy Valley so far: the TPE trains between towns in the north actually running to timetable so the characters can rely on them

Oh have you Matt Hancock?? Giving public cash to your mates and disregarding the rules that bound the rest of us while thousands died on your watch?
Still so smug and sure of his exceptionalism 🤢
