Just got home from a night shift. 0755hrs. Please can we stop normalising today as a day off. It is not. I've just done a 12.5hr night shift. I'm knackered. Acid reflux. Headache. Semi delirious. This is not a day off. A day off is a functioning adult, activities, and errands.
Today is the day!! I am out in the community on my own!!
#DistrictNursing
is such a privilege!
#HealthPromotion
and preventing hospital admissions, caring for those in their own homes, it's another level of care. I'm thankful for this opportunity 🙏♥️ with such a supportive team!
I am now 30 years old (31 next month 😳) I am a 2nd year student nurse, yet I feel, 18 year old me would of dropped out by now. Life I general, builds our skills. Mature students - How would your younger self deal with training? Could you have done it? I'm not so sure myself
@bramwell_ashley
@Saltwater_Sunae
Sunae is NOT taking that away from parents. Their employer did that! It is not acceptable to then pass that blame onto those who do not swap. I always worked Christmas when I didn't have my child, I wanted on year off and was made to feel blamed. This culture has to stop!
NHS Uniform policy. Black socks, colourful hair
I understand people when they say 'hair/socks doesn't affect practice' - I agree.
BUT
I'm sad we are losing professionalism in uniform.
Maybe it is my long line of military family. I'm proud to have these "trivial" policies 🤷♀️
Pinch me now!!
Shortlisted for

🌟Student Innovation in Practice🌟
🌟Mary Seacole Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion🌟
#Congratulations
to all who are shortlisted! I can't wait to meet you all and hear your wonderful journeys 🤩
Recruitment and Retention:
Should student nurses be entitled to free training with a 4 year contract to the NHS once training is completed?
(Similar to military, train for free, sign 4 years commitment).

This article needs to be re-written.
As a final year apprentice, I study towards a degree whilst being on placement. I learn the exact same skills as the traditional route with the exact same standards.
I see no problem here other than those scared of change (understandably)
What do you think of apprenticeships replacing traditional university routes into nursing?
The head of NHS England has suggested more nurses could learn on the job as a way of solving the workforce crisis.

7 years ago, 530am. Time to start washes. Guess who refused....me. I said, if I find out you got my family out of bed at 530 in the morning just to keep your day staff happy, I'll file a complaint. If however, Mrs so and so is an early bird and it is her routine, then I will help

Today has been a good first day

conference, meeting so many other talented students and leaders within healthcare. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's part of the two day conference 😀
And that is me finished.
#CommunityRocks
I feel so honoured to have gained such experiences. Lone working has done wonders for my practice and also personally. It has been emotional saying goodbye, but now, onto new opportunities. Look to the future ❤️
#LearnedAlot
#positivity
Finished my first shift of 2023 in the community after a lovely Christmas break. It was really nice to see paitents again and support their current and additional needs. I lead most visits, which felt fab!! This is my 'omg I qualify this year' face. Inside, I'm 😬😨♥️😬 ......😅
Working in community on days like today.....🌧⛈️☔️
Wet feet
Wet glasses

Everything is just.....wet!
Most importantly though,
Happy patients! 😀

Your losing nurses because of pay. The NHS pays £££££'s in agency fees to cover short staffing. Pay nurses better, support student nurses better, you'll find recruitment & retention improvements rarther quick. Quality care,

Ended today saying goodbye to my assessor as they will not be around for my last two shifts next week. First time I've had such appreciation 🙏 Forever thankful to our DN team, welcoming me with open arms, so supportive, encouraging. Not felt like this before, leaving a 💗 team
Seeing things like these at work
@IOWNHS
brightens my day. It's not easy and surprises happen but support is vital! Ladies, keep supporting and empowering eachother - we should not shy away from periods at work
Guys 🥹🥹 I have set myself a goal - to see, what you all see in me! A big task for me after going so long facing discrimination. You are all incredible individuals and I'm honoured to have met you all! Thank you so much! 💓 🥹 2 days with

There are medication calculations that require a 100% pass rate that safeguards against this. Basic maths should be a requirement but a lower GCSE grade shouldn't determine someone's capabilities
@Jayana1993
You shouldn't have to put up wit that 😥. I feel like I'm being dramatic when I'm always referred too (and introduced) as 'the student' without my name even being mentioned 🤷♀️
Sad seein comments 'sack them all' - ' waited X years from X' - your going 2 wait longer if nurses are not paid fairly. Already nurses leaving, students dropping out. Retain nurses with fair pay good working conditions

It's a sunny day on the IOW today 😎 chilly but nice non the less. Out once again, in the community with my own list. Im learning so much being on my own. Still opportunities to discuss things with the team. What are you doing today.

I disagree. Nursing associates are NOT registered nurses, they are registered nursing associates. Start calling then registered nurses blurrs the line and can impact patient safety
Thank you to

for allowing me to bring this issue to the floor and for the support, listening, and hearing.
Here is part of the proposal. I'm finally brave enough to post it! You can watch the full debates on the

We have been nominated in the National Diversity Awards 2023!! 👏🤩 This is incredible and a big achievement! Has our guidebook helped? Have you attended an event where we have been present? Will you support us in voting for SSHINE and sharing the word?🙏

conference day 😃🧙♀️
This is not a brag. Some assignments was 42%, 45% - what really counts- your hard work, determination & self motivation to grow. Do not despair. Each assignment is an opportunity to improve your skills. You can do this. I can't believe I have done this! Happy tear! 🥹
