You couldn't make this up
First the government try to kill us with incorrect PPE
Then they clap us as heroes
But they won't give us fair pay
But they will give us the George Cross
And now they want to take us to court or strike us off for fighting back
Thanks Tories
I've seen several threads in the past few days on ways to save energy
Heres my best tip
Dont vote for a government that would happily freeze us all to death

Imagine, you're a student Nurse in England
You work 37.5 hrs a week in the NHS risking your life to nurse Coronavirus patients for less than £3/ph
On top of that you have to pay parking charges upfront
This isn't a story, this is reality
Support student nurses

A sleeping giant has awoken with the rejuvenation of the Trade Union movement
Firefighters are coming out in support of NHS workers, teachers for railworkers, communications workers for teachers.
It's glorious and the government should be afraid
Last night my 16 yr old daughter took unwell with what we suspect is appendicitis
I called 111-recorded message telling me minimum 90 min wait
I didn't bother calling an ambulance based on my own experience last year I knew they wouldn't send one
So we drove her ourselves
"The NHS can't take anymore"
NO! Junior Doctors can't take any more
Nurses can't take any more
Paramedics can't take any more
We are the NHS and you are losing us due to pay & conditions
Fix it, negotiate

Struggling to pay for petrol, struggling to buy food, struggling to heat your home

If nurse training was actually paid for in full this might be a discussion but in England nurses qualify with Tens of thousands of educational debt.
On qualification they owe the NHS nothing. Especially when they give hundreds of hours of free labour to the NHS!

Last week I stood at the

Euston picket line as I'd seen the media try to convince the public nurses weren't in support of rail staff.
Today I see this video from Eddie Dempsey, it made my day to hear him say that rail workers are with us ✊️
I've seen many angry remarks about nursing strikes. The fact is I'm pro workers rights be that nurses, posties, factory workers. The workforce has rarely made a stand on this scale & we shouldn't apologise for defending our employment rights. Purely my personal opinion
Rishi wants to focus on Math in his speech as statistics underpin many jobs.
Here's a few stats then:
▶️Nursing vacancies across UK 50k
▶️General vacancies in the NHS around 150k
▶️Bed cuts in the past decade 8.3%
▶️Amount of Tory PMs unfit to lead the UK this past year, 3
It's my birthday today, and on my birthday I could wish for a number of seemingly impossible things
Like NHS staff canteens as good as the one our MPs have
Or showing up to work with enough staff on shift to look after patients the way they deserve
Or for the government to

So, the government is seriously considering cutting training time for nurses in a bid to boost staffing in the NHS
I find this gravely concerning. Training is currently in need of an overhaul as nurses are often too understaffed on wards and in community to support student
She lay howling in pain for the entire A&E waiting room to hear for around half an hour when she was triaged she was taken straight through. I'm a trained nurse I felt powerless
No beds in the hospital so she stayed down in A&E overnight
Has the NHS ever saved your life?
It has saved mine & I will fight to keep that safety net for my childrens generation
With vacancies expected to rise to 250,000 by 2030 now is the time to invest in retaining staff before our public health service is no longer viable
Honestly it's a bloody disgrace that people are having to debate using heating when it's -2 in the UK
Exactly what are our elected representatives doing to end the energy crisis?!

As nurses we are predominantly mentioned in the recent union action but I want to be clear I support pay restoration for EVERY NHS worker
Porters, HCSW, Admin, OT's Physios, Doctors,Paramedics Radiographers, not enough room to list us all

With serious shortages of staff you would think the NHS would be doing everything to entice workers back to our health service who perhaps left for private sector jobs?
Do you know that many trusts put nurses back on entry level wages if they rejoin the NHS? This is despite
To all the people who are blaming nursing strikes for delays in treatment
Have you been living under a rock this past year?! The NHS is chaos, manufactured chaos at that.

This silence was held for the fallen healthcare workers at a demo early in the Covid pandemic. At that point the figure was 640 lost
So explain how can health trusts be claiming little to no workers died from exposure to Covid 19 in the line of duty?
Triple lock plus.....Are they serious?

If the NHS is short of staff they have to use external agencies
Those agencies charge the NHS exorbitant rates to provide staff
If you owned shares in those agencies you wouldn't want to resolve the staffing crisis
Ask yourself who owns shares in those agencies ....
It's Nurses Day 2023
So many of us have a stories of gratitude for nurses, this is one of mine:
Around 15 years ago, I was 5 months pregnant with my 3rd child. I had been feeling unwell for a couple of days but thought I had a viral infection.
On day 3, I woke up feeling very
They don't care if you catch Covid
They don't care about protecting healthcare
They don't care about cutting welfare
They won't protect your data
They won't allow you to protest about any of it
I'm not sure we have a government anymore, I think maybe we have a regime

So strikes will be called after RCN members decided to reject the government's pay cut.
The government has trampled on nurses for so long they never expected our profession to fight back
Mistake, BIG MISTAKE! 💪
You have voted to reject the NHS pay offer for nursing staff in England.
Next steps:
- Seek urgent talks with UK govt
- 48-hour strike from 8pm 30 April, without derogations
- England-wide statutory ballot to extend current strike mandate
Read more.
The UK just now:
"I'm struggling to keep my family on £2000 a month"
"You think thats bad I'm struggling on £1500"
"I only have £1000"
Its become a race to the bottom. The working class think they are eachothers enemy & the elite laugh. Until that changes, nothing else will!
The government are trying to sabotage the upcoming 48hr nursing strikes, claiming that day 2 is not legitimately within the mandate period. A desperate move
If you are backing nurses follow our union

RANT WARNING
I read this comment earlier:
"The NHS receiving the George Cross is an insult to war heroes who had actual courage"
Don't tell me any medical worker after seeing the scenes from Italy, knowing what they were about to face didn't have courage in this Pandemic
I fully back my trade unions choice to ramp up the level of strike action to a full 48 hour all out approach.
This didn't need to happen the government knew this was a possible outcome & done nothing to prevent it.
I suspect there will be a Cobra meeting now

Should carers and nurses be paid the same?
@GMB
are asking this morning. Simply put no, nursing demands 3 to 4 years of study.
Having said that carers should be paid far more than they currently are it's a vastly underappreciated and vital role in society
