@TannerVanParys @BrentScher that car costs pretty much exactly as much as the average new car in the US this is just desperately trying to generate outrage, it's a complete non story (even if it were eg a $70k car, who cares? not like that's an outrageous price for a car either, it's premium mainstream)

While people predictably screech about 6000 bombs, the number is significant for exactly the opposite reason: given that total deaths in Gaza at the moment are below 2000, that means ~0.33 deaths per 500-2000lbs bomb dropped on a dense urban area

The Ford carrier program was designed to cost less than Nimitz over its life. It’s only a couple years into the program, but it’s actually costing *even less* than predicted, as the Navy has seen in early maintenance availabilities:

@peterrhague There are fully autonomous subways in operation *right now* Anyone that tries to paint this as impossible or even especially hard is either talking about insane regulatory requirements, or trying to protect Interests

"apparently" doing a lot of work here Starlink is geofencing along the FLOT. This has been known for many months. When the FLOT changes, this is adjusted, but can take a bit Scandalizing this is amazingly dishonest. But what do you expect from NYT

Anyone Mad about (useful) animal testing who isn't a stringent vegetarian is a hypocrite of the first order. I will die on this hill In the comments people are outraged that Neuralink experimented on pigs. "Those are for eating, not science, you cruel bastard!!"

Everyone! Calm down! The neural chips that ended up killing the recipients were put into the brains of TERMINALLY ILL monkeys! So all the monkeys that the neural chips killed were gonna die anyway! See? Totally normal stuff.

@vodk_anon these people are so used to exceptional safety that they freak out any time the streak is broken complete lack of historical reference frame will do that to you same dynamic as with people declaring the carrier dead because you can now shoot fast missiles at it (novel idea!)

"it's a gas turbine, how hard can it be?" hint: it's definitely not any easier than the most advanced rocket engines, and those take about a decade to develop as well. See eg the RS-25 and Raptor

It would be mistaken to say companies like Pratt and Whitney have not innovated on jet engine design in the last 70+ years of making them. For example, 13 years ago they added this single gear between the compressor stage and turbofan at a program cost of only $10 billion. 🧵

area "Physicist in training" shocked to learn that weapons are meant to kill people, and that killing involves inflicting fatal physical injuries are people under the impression other warheads aren't carefully designed for specific effects? "Lethality Engineer" is a Thing

Lockheed Martin made a weapon that shoots out blades at humans like they are meat in a blender? And many scientists and engineers worked on this? I am going to be sick. Physically sick.

@Rahj8 @AustinTeslaClub @elonmusk @Tesla "unconscious" and "sleeping so deeply people can't wake you by banging on the windows" is pretty equivalent when it comes to driving a vehicle... in either case, the car did what it was supposed to do, and kept the driver out of the wall
