I love products that reimagine physical desires and turn them into digital experiences.
Locket: A special space used for storing a photograph of loved ones. The widget from locket app does exactly that.
The folks at BeMatch added some really smooth shortcuts for support in the Home Screen context menu, seeing this more and more in social apps and it’s super smooth.
++ Congratulations on the launch
@satopon__
Love seeing new social interactions in the wild.
The
@AirbudsWidget
screen that suggest friends-of-friends helps to create the perception of density + triggers x new people to open the app when they get the request (Very nice loop).
Will try this for invites on our new app.
I think that consumer social should be interactive, shareable, and provide a few minutes of fun, multiple times per day.
@anuatluru
has an essay about ritual apps but I think this covers apps that aren't too.
Some examples below with my friends 👇
ai best friend > ai girlfriend.
I used replika with friends growing up, the biggest feature request was to introduce our ai friends to the friend group or even other agents.
BeMatch is an app to find BeReal friends from
@satopon__
and
@tomokisun
. The onboarding and design choices are very similar to BeReal and helps users understand the shared context.
Soundmap from
@gao_zibo
is my personal favourite. Pokemon for music, all my young folks use it and it has all the right things from onboarding, haptics, design and most importantly lovely coin economy.
If you build products, you should watch this because he rarely does interviews.
@jeff_weinstein
has done build in public better than most people and the fact that he does this in a big company is super impressive.
Jeff Weinstein (
@jeff_weinstein
) is a product lead at Stripe, where he helped grow their payment APIs to hundreds of billions in volume and transformed the way founders start companies into a few simple clicks with

Biggest lesson I’ve gotten from Monopoly Go and Clash of Clans is that they show you the prompt to rate the app, buy coins etc in a good moment e.g. when you just won a game and feel good about it.
Games take handholding to a whole new level 🤯
I felt like I was mind controlled while onboarding to Squad Busters.
I didn’t see anything on the screen asides what they directed me to click on.
Colleague: Can you help me with this query?
Me: Opens Claude, enters prompt, pastes on Metabase, shares chart link
Colleague: That was fast
Me: mutters skill issue
I’ve been thinking a lot about “teachable design”.
These are features that provide an opportunity for users to show their friends how to do something cool.
And this can increase their social standing.

@an21m
and team is one of the best designed apps in the space, it has been blowing up recently in Japan. The bend to change image was really cool and they have some of the best filters in the game.
Bracelets: an ornamental band or chain worn around the wrist which has sentimental value.
Friendship Bracelets app does exactly that and gives you infinite creation powers.
Airbuds by
@GillesPoupardin
and
@gawenr
is my most used app here, I like the full screen that shows up when you invite a friend and how the mechanic drives you to add other mutuals.
@prestonattebery
I don’t agree with this take completely , post to story type apps like NGL, IG wrapped and Sendit did not require close friends to work.
WYD was by
@jose_goncalves_
, I did not get a chance to use it but read the case study and it Jose thought about a lot of things. The content on his blog is prescient.
spinoff-ai from
@faionur
and the WishRoll team has been a favourite, you can embed yourself into stories created by other users and also interact with the characters.
Limelight by
@JoshRozin
is the most unhinged app ever, I've gone through many iterations and was inspired by the invite a friend to increase your chances flow.
