i feel extremely lucky to be surrounded by an incredible group of cracked engineers. thank you to @_yashkarthik and @AryanAfrouzi for teaching me how to solder. @oldestasian for saving me from getting electrocuted. @usrbinishan for helping machine things. and to all the others

originally inspired by @oliviali_ to build this, i was hyper obsessed in making this exist within 10 days of construction. week 1: figuring out parts, design and navigating mcmaster carr

i bought ashlee’s elon musk biography when i was a naive 13 year old living in sri lanka. and it rewired how i thought about everything. it was a pleasure showing you around our/place!.
.@hud_zah was kind enough to show me his fusor this morning (from the very San Francisco sentences files). and i have thoughts. for one . .

I primarily relied on a giant claude project filled with documentation from forums, call transcripts from @meetgranola, email threads and more. I use it extensively to debug, help me with safety, and follow otherwise unknown instructions that were outlined in the build process.

also—a shoutout to all the great humans who helped out with this!. @oliviali_ for constantly helping with debugging on random facetimes. @pavitarsaini for skipping out on a family Christmas dinner to stay with me and build this out. @ansonyuu for being the most joyful welding

a lot of my fusor work started at a @socraticainfo coworking session in sf— I demo'd it there when it was only a notion doc and by the time I had finished building the whole thing out!

one more shout-out! @535Toronto for generously funding this. full nuclear fusion will be done in toronto.
in a couple weeks, i built a nuclear fusor in my bedroom – with zero hardware experience. the secret? Claude sonnet 3.5 + projects. a glimpse into the process below

and lastly, a big <3 to @sriramk and @tylercowen for helping fund this and making this a reality :>. thank you for enabling the future!!!.

@jacksonbelang - just read a lot on - my friend olivia.- basically none, the input/output energy ratio is super low.

this write up leaves out a lot of technical details on purpose. I wrote a substack (linked below) on the actual hour by hour process. will be publishing final technical results once I get some new transducers shipped in. I completed this fusion run right before a flight last.
over a 36-hour livestream, I built a neutron-producing nuclear fusor in my kitchen using Claude. successfully achieving nuclear fusion, entirely assisted by AI. this was my first hardware project!—full story below

we regularly hit several hundred- and now even a thousand weekly attendees at our socratica co-working sessions worldwide. if a node doesn’t exist near you, help us start one!
we remembered the twitter password!!. in london, boston, waterloo, vancouver, montreal++ today — making retro game consoles, animations, material selection databases, stories, hacker fabs, and more

the craziest grind i have ever seen is this dude at @socraticainfo working on a Minecraft clone on the browser for 4 years. it's so well-optimized that he can run it on a Chromebook no big deal. the calibre of people at socratica always amazes me.

i measured every second I spent on the fusor and it took me a total of 51 hours of research. mostly supercharged by AI tbh
@hud_zah How much did that cost you? How long did it take? Do you have an engineering background?.

jam packed with information on how to speedrun ideation and executing on it using claude + other AI tools.
VIDEO: HOW @hud_zah BUILT A FUSOR IN HIS BEDROOM USING CLAUDE . You all probably saw @hud_zah go viral last week for building a nuclear fusor (I had to look up what that was) in his room using Claude Sonnet. @aarthir and I had him walk us through how he did it and he was kind to

Olivia is an insane engineer, she also made - the fusor forum scraped and put into embeddings that is queryable.
A lot of people I've talked to have been excited about building a fusion reactor. Hudzah is the only person to have actually went on and executed! I'm creating a write up to help anybody else wanting to make their own fusor at home. Here's a WIP:

the real california gold rush
@hud_zah lives in a house full of Waterloo youngsters. One was doing a mind-reading experiment. Some others had built a couple GPU clusters. There was even some gold panning going on in the bathtub. Go long Waterloo youngsters.

@logangraham @AnthropicAI @alexalbert__ yes, feeding it datasheets, email conversations, etc. annoying parts were:.- not being able to upload links (had to manually copy paste info).- message limits, hit this almost 3 times a day.- limited knowledge base size.- not being able to talk with claude via voice.
