i have a day job (faang) & I see this often..
- depending on his age and length of service.. i would suggest.
* take an immediate holiday (7-10 days)
* restructure his work "day" & work "week"
for example:
Mon - Tues: Full Burn (9am-2:30pm)
Wed - Focus on the "new thing"

im giving away.. 11 domain names..

I just asked
@eliasstravik
for feedback & he replied using a "video feedback" tool called
@_pactto
-- and it's pretty badass!! I didn't know this type of feedback format video even existed and it makes so much sense.
(thanks again
@eliasstravik

#buildinpublic
The thing Im thinking about now..
- how do i maintain 3x growth or even reach 10x
- can this be a 100m public company (very very unlikely)
- was i happier when I was solo at 900k?
Other notes:
- my day job by far makes me more money (absurdly more) and a lot less headache
*the biggest impact:
- 2021~2022 (i started listening to older & smarter people)
- I got help & I hired people smarter than me
- I started acquiring aggressively for growth
- I started an aggressive revenue split for founders that stayed post acquisition
- i experiment ALOT
when i post something on my account that has 15k followers.. people agree
when i post the exact same thing on my account that has 100 followers people disagree.
Happy Tuesday Friends.
Id like to introduce you to
@AnthonyCastrio
this guy sold 2 of his hustles..
(checks notes)
I meant.. 3 hustles.
BotEatBrain, Indie Worldwide, FirstAct.
now he is helping you "Get a Job" (ApplyAll .com)
- This guy is relentless & worth a follow
"a tool that makes it easier to talk to your (potential) customers."
This is a "$1m arr in 12 months" product..
-- social media use to be this product.. but it feel less so these days
@_MaxBlade
yes.
my previous boss at Netflix reportedly made 16m last year. (LA is wild)
yup my side hustle: i buy tiny sites, newsletters, tiny saas & I hold them. 95% of revenue are from ads, sponsors & affiliates. once i hired a COO and CRO revenue skyrocketed. i sucked at sales & ops.
i used to think selling on social media was all about pitching.
i was wrong.
here's what I've learned:
don't sell. help.
when someone follows you or comments on your post, reach out. but not to pitch. instead, thank them and ask about their work.
"thanks for the follow! i
3 easy tricks to find customers:
- start with poaching your competitors customers
- try looking at adjacent, tangential, supplementary startups and have a complementary offer
- dont be shy in asking for referrals
To run a successful directory you gotta nail three basic things:
1. Curation
2. Usefulness
3. UX
Without mastery of these 3 things.. Its going be very difficult to succeed. I know it sounds obvious.. but its actually to tougher to achieve that it seems.
I love directories ..
Ai Agents Directory by
@WishMasterUA
is one of the smoothest and we'll curated directories out there ..
Excellent execution on a simple idea.
99.99% of your customers are NOT on X/twitter
99.99% of your customers are N0T on LinkedIn
if you are finding your customers now on X and LinkedIn you will tripple your sales if you reduce your time on X
Conversations into gamified discussions
@up_argue
by
@franciscboicu
is pretty interesting.
Turn everyday debates into gamified discussions that are as fun as they are insightful. Engage with diverse perspectives, challenge your thinking, and level.
The hard part about figuring out your customer is understanding the difference between
-who I want to spend my time with versus who wants to consume my product
-which community I belong to versus the community that wants my product
-what I'm good at versus want people want
I registered httpdeals .com 07/08/24
I started my X account on 07/13/24
I built a prototype 07/16
I started testing asap for usability & ux
I need to start onboarding test users today 07/22
I need to start generating revenue by 07/29
- dont rush
- dont wait
- start asap
They are back at it again!

(P.s. bring pen & paper, lots of insightful nuggets to jot down)
Quick takeaways from
@aliszu
&
@eliasstravik
1. Be clear if you are a service or a product
2. Establish a visual brand identity (colors, logos, fonts etc) & use it consistently
3. nail the basics; your OG image & Landing Page should match
#buildinpublic
this is the biggest mistake Founders make with their startups... they have no idea who their customers are..
I guarantee the "icp method" does not work at this stage
Just like this post by Dmytro.
It's so so so so so so important to define a narrow ICP in the beginning.
You can't serve anyone. Serve the smallest group possible.
Hot take: 99% of us will never make a living from indie making

worked a lot and got lucky.
You can work a lot and have no luck.
That the most probable path
You will struggle and survive until your burnout.
So give yourself

2. people have strong feelings about coding
3. people have strong feelings about suggestions
Is there a Launch Pal agency ? $499 launch pal package?
- 30 days of helping you get ready to launch
- includes 30 tweets to help get the word out
- connects you with two newsletters to advertise on
- 7 twitter spaces featuring you
(this has got to be a thing)
I spend $$$ on reddit ads.
I think it's still one of the most underrated marketing channel out there.
Here's what I learned and how you can use it too — a full guide ↓

🚨New Product Hunt Launch that you need to check out is ExtendHunt by
@samuelpigny
..
ExtendHunt builds on the momentum that follows your PH launch. Its a fun site where every product gets featured! more up votes more boost 😍
you asked us - we did it! 😏
we took this fantastic documentary by
@thepatwalls
and made a short clip of how
@marc_louvion
finally got his first payment 🔥
watch the full video, it's incredibly amazing and motivating!
@eliasstravik
hmm.. i have feelings and comments about this..
however, i agree that you gotta pick a customer base you know.. or care to know.
- when picking a niche.. i always think about "how can i sell them pizza.."
Pizza doesnt solve a problem.. doesnt even solve "hunger"
the hardest thing about
#buildinpublic
is doing the thing that no one really cares about day in and day out. without the promise of more followers or more mrr..
you still gotta do the thing
you get to choose your customers.
you get to choose your audience.
you get to choose your community.
you get to choose who you spend your time.
choose wisely.
*great video reminder below 👇
Right, it's time to be honest.
In the last 11 months I've made a whopping $0! 🤑
I've been living entirely off savings.
I'm frustrated, tired, and a little lost 😅
Here are my 4 failures and what's next:

To have a sustainable SaaS biz you need:
- ads
- nanoinfluencers
- referrals
- affiliates
- newsletters
If you have any 2 of the 5 (its gonna be hard)
If you have any 3 of the 5 (you can compete)
if you have 4 of the 5 (you'll have steady MRR)
if you have all 5 ( $1m ARR)
@martyamark
determine the ease of executing the 'great' idea.
determine the ease to market.
determine the speed to revenue.
do prototype..
if you can do this 1.5hrs /day for 30 days then juggle.
if you don't - it will nag at you.
better scratch the itch then move on
imho
If America had 1 percentage point lower growth per quarter since 1980, it would be about as poor as Mexico is today.
Growth is the most precious quantity in the world and without it most of us simply wouldn't exist.
My friends & I were watching the 'Roast' show hosted by
@eliasstravik
featuring
@cutthepod
