@ClinOncologist @goldstone_tony @Jeremy_Hunt In the city my 26 year old daughter will soon be earning more than when I retired as a consultant without the debt of a medical student. Young people doing medicine are mad as things stand, with absolutely no suggestion of change. Study maths or economics.

@AliJaneMoore Government have got what they want - cheaper quasi consultants/GPs. They have no interest in quality of care. It’s just a numbers game for them. Patients will have to check on the qualifications of all the nurses and doctors they come in contact with.

@danny_mercer This is important. The public (and that includes patients) want cheap healthcare subsidised by NHS staff. This dispute is with the public as much as the Govt. Do not expect any concession from the Govt. They will play the long game. Only solution is coordinated mass resignations.

@BeckettUnite Not quite that simple. Pay rises have to be paid for by increased productivity or increased prices. The latter leads to the rate of inflation increasing. End up back to where you started from. Needs slightly more radical solutions.

My advice to anyone considering medicine as a career is don't, but if you are determined be prepared to leave the UK.

The problem is most are in general practice where this is not the case. They are seeing undifferentiated patients and not being supervised adequately.
