You know what isn’t politicking? -
@Keir_Starmer
standing up for NHS workers who need more & better PPE.
You know what is? Organised Tory attacks on him for raising it.
It's apt that you'd refer to a witch hunt,
@coyleneil
.
I'm sorry you're still bitter that your own CLP invited me to speak about open selections last year.
Democracy is a wonderful thing. If local members want someone else to represent them, just accept it with good grace.
I ran into the chapel in Westminster after the 2017 terror attack. David Amess was in there giving a tour to constituents. He was extremely kind to me and my colleague in those first few disorientating minutes and of course for the next few hours we were locked in.
I’ve been angry since I read this. Because their song sheet never changes. Endless promises, no delivery, blame England and wriggle out of it every time. And repeat. Lazy, shitty politics.
🗳 👩💻 If
@theSNP
is re-elected in May, we will make sure every school pupil from P1 to S6 gets a laptop, Chromebook or tablet. In the digital age this should be as automatic as being given jotters and pencils was in years gone by.
#BothVotesSNP
Just a reminder that if you’re going with a bigger picture of the woman - not a public figure - in your story than the man - public figure, accused of wrongdoing - then your publication is sexist
Don’t even know where to start. I work for a global communications firm at the heart of the city of London. I’m at the centre of London politics. Whilst there are many issues of inclusion which still need to be addressed in many fields, this is horseshit.
As we come up to 1 year since the whip was withdrawn from
@jeremycorbyn
, this is a reminder that he still doesn’t have it back. Jeremy was elected by the people of Islington North on a Labour mandate & was leader of the party just 18 months ago. He must have the whip restored.
I worked in our Parliament as a staff member, as an MP and was there as a visitor, steps away from PC Keith Palmer when he was tragically killed. I do not understand how the people who run security on the Capitol can have allowed this
The first five words explain why Scotland’s public services are in the gutter. The most powerful position in the most powerful devolved parliament in Western Europe and they only want to use it as a stepping stone to independence, not to change what they can now for Scots
This election is about independence, who is best equipped, and who has the best plan to achieve it. It is also about the society we want Scotland to be – where tolerance is the ruling ethic, poverty becomes history, equality of opportunity is the birth right of every child. /1
Delighted to be elected to
@LondonLabour
regional board. Sometimes I get asked why I still do this. It’s because I’m totally determined to get a labour government elected again. And I help in the ways I can, including this. Whatever you can do, keep doing it, we need you x
Democracy costs money. If you are pretending MPs office costs are going into their pocket and not to service the needs of constituents you need to educate yourself on how our democracy works.
I’ve just agreed with my family this evening that it’s best if I don’t visit them for Christmas. Lots of people having these difficult chats. So folk rioting about football or having friends round to lick their faces or whatever and boast about it can honestly do one.
Everyone should watch this. The First Minister defending a deliberate decision to entrench the poverty attainment gap. The SNP had a choice here and they chose to shaft poor kids
“Can you look a young person from those most deprived backgrounds in the eye today and say this system is fair?”
@C4Ciaran
asks Nicola Sturgeon about the disparity between the exam results of pupils from deprived areas and those from wealthier ones.
No proper vetting process of Karie Murphy will approve her. Make sure you check back to her Unison days in Scotland. Oh and anyone who wants proof she used parliamentary resources for personal political activities - give me a ring 👍🏻
EXCLUSIVE 🚨 Labour has nominated John Bercow, Tom Watson and Karie Murphy for peerages
All appear on Corbyn's eight-strong Dissolution Honours list, obtained by The Sunday Times. Vetting begins soon
Bercow was 1st Speaker not to enter the Lords upon resigning for 230 yrs (1/4)
Deputy leadership candidates on the BBC license fee....
Angela Rayner: "I'm no big fan of the BBC. I don't think they've been particularly friends of the Labour Party or our Labour leadership. But we've got to make sure that it remains a public broadcaster.
IMPORTANT:
South London Labour members, is your MP Labour’s Neil Coyle? Tomorrow is a re-selection meeting for Newington Branch. Ever the democrat Neil is only telling his supporters.
It’s tomorrow 11am Penrose TRA Hall, SE17 3EZ. Take ID and party membership.
Pls Rt
Not saying my CLP delegate is better than yours but mine asked the hecklers if they are Tories cause why else would they be shouting at the Leader of the Labour Party during his speech
#Lab21
Imagine this being your take on what’s going on in Syria. Assad gasses kids just like this & you meet his ‘Minster of Religious Affairs’. The UK precision bombs the kit to stop him doing it & you call it a disgrace. That’s a pretty unique take on Christianity & humanity
Civic nationalism. Our Labour hall was set alight and burnt out with three points of acceleration the day after the referendum result. This was one of the polling stations on the day.
When will the hard left get that the public don’t give a flying fuck about internal labour processes on policy or selections. The definition of navel grazing
The number of people who have the cheek & audacity to tell
@Emily_Benn
what her grandfather would think of her never fails to astonish me. The wit and courage with which she dispatches them comes as no surprise to anyone who knows her🌹
I hope Scotland’s young people remember that when the SNP Government downgraded their exam results because of where they live, SNP politicians did not speak up for them but did speak up to save a politician’s career
There is nobody more honourable, more compassionate and more dedicated to public service than
@JohnSwinney
. Today's debate reveals how rare those qualities are in the Holyrood chamber. I hold him in the highest regard, personally and professionally.
Every clip I’ve seen of Sturgeon this week she seems defensive and annoyed she’s being asked to justify herself. Not enjoying the campaign at all by the looks of it
I have met people who say they work for the SNP and on closer questioning reveal they actually work for the civil service. This would never happen in Whitehall.
And this is the problem. The U.K. politicians, the media and the civil service are all pals together. Same schools, some universities, same circles. It is a bubble which prevents proper scrutiny and accountability.
Rutherglen and Hamilton West parliamentary by-election, result:
LAB: 58.6% (+24.1)
SNP: 27.6% (-16.6)
CON: 3.9% (-11.1)
LDEM: 2.9% (-2.2)
GRN: 2.0% (+2.0)
REF: 1.3% (+1.3)
Labour GAIN from SNP.
Literally doesn’t give a fuck if your child gets a good education, if the ambulance arrives on time to save your parents from their heart attack or if unemployed people get help to find a job. Everything you need to know about nationalists
I've been critical of SNP's domestic policy agenda. But that stops for next 6 weeks. SNP is only pro indy party that can win a FPTP election. It has some brilliant candidates & strong policies on reserved issues. All hands to the pump.
Not invited to this despite being the Chair of the Bermondsey and Old Southwark so assume it was a specially selected group being asked to vote! Sad to see a former colleague bringing this kind of divisive politics to BOS
Unopposed vote in favour of

at tonight's

in Bermondsey & Old Southwark constituency and joyous celebration for

's clean sweep in Labour's NEC election.
Proceedings were brought to a conclusion with a rendition of We Shall Overcome.
How wrong you are. I campaigned for that Labour Government in 97, not old enough to vote. So many people knew it meant so much. And it did. Made such a difference to the lives of so many in the UK AND around the world
#LabourGovernmentMatters
She never got a D in her life before, until the Government gave her one because of the school she goes to. What a lesson to give to young people. I hope they never forget
'I've never got a D in my life ever, I just don't want a D'
A student has told ITV News she is 'really upset and annoyed' after her predicted A-Level grades of an A,B,B turned into a B,D,B.

Delighted to be re-elected as Chair of the mighty
@BOSLabour
today along with a fabulous and exciting Executive Committee. Looking forward to the year ahead :)
Everyone from bigots to assholes to OJ should stop doorstepping Kim Leadbeater in the street. Can you imagine what this campaign is like for her. Give her space to speak to voters and run a safe campaign.
Can we say a massive THANK YOU to the
@UKLabour
candidates and members in non target seats who are spending time in target seats to help make sure we deliver a Labour Government

Heroes 🙌🏻
Only 3 days after our AGM & someone is attacking me as a ‘shit chair’ and saying I shouldn’t be Chair of our CLP because I’m Scottish and have ‘only’ been active in this CLP for 2 years. We are better than this and should welcome members from EVERYWHERE
#forthemany
Note to candidates (well one anyway):
When members say - please mention Scotland in your pitch!
They don’t mean, have a pop at the successful campaign we ran which you weren’t involved in
Years ago I trained myself to always look behind me as I turn into my street at night (I turn off a busy main road into a pedestrianised dark estate). Tonight I realised how fucked up this is. Thinking of Sarah and her family and all the women 😔
Any labour person tweeting ‘the real fight starts now’ can do one.
This was the real fight. We lost. Badly. Atrociously. The next five years are going to be abysmal
#GE2019
Lots of new MPs. Here’s my top tips:
1. You need more pants than you have now. Seriously, order some more today.
2. There will forever be an out of date pint of milk in at least one of the many fridges that will now be in your life. I had five (2 flats, 3 offices)
#Ge2024
Briefly commented on the Scottish schooling crisis and have had a slew of nasty tweets since including comments about my job (fabricated) and what I feed my (nonexistent) children. The lengths people will go to to defend the cult of nationalism never fails to astonish
The fact that it’s a massive deal 4 the Prime Minister to visit Scotland is regrettable and shows how bad his approach is. The fact that the First Minister uses the visit 2 pretend we don’t live in a democracy is ridiculous. Scotland really does deserve better than this nonsense
@HannahAlOthman
He did not and it is scurrilous to suggest otherwise. The
@OxfordUnion
is not part of the Uni and that there would be no picket line was confirmed in advance of the visit by
@LenMcCluskey
. Without prejudice to any further action please delete your tweet.
And DARE I SAY it, we might not be leaving the EU if the Remain campaign had paid a bit more attention to the strategies and successes of Better Together
Extremely lovely to be included in this year's Women in Westminster list. If you are a woman who loves politics, please think about a career in public affairs - we need more of us 💪
#WIW100
#IWD2021
Stop calling it an early vote. It’s a postal vote. People know what a postal vote is. They do not know what an early vote is. Unless you have polling to show me to prove otherwise.
Heading to bed and really hoping the foxes shagged themselves out last night and aren’t in the mood for another 1am, 3am oh and 5am go at it again tonight 😡
Lol looks like this crock of a “CLP Secs for Labour Party Democracy” letter is just making up fake signatories now.
@gemmacdoyle
definitely hasn’t signed it.
Some great candidates standing for the Holyrood selections and good on anyone putting themselves forward. Please don’t vote for anyone who sucked up to Corbyn, stood with his outriders or failed to condemn his lack of action to tackle antisemitism. Backbones not sheep required
