Gentrification in Brooklyn started in the 90s. Not sure why people think there was no gentrification prior to like 2010. Park Slope, BK Heights, Vinegar/Boerum/Cobble/Clinton Hills were all desirable neighborhoods at that time. They were just sleepier and far from Manhattan.
