@AlexNevard @becca_kate_ Often only allowed to take leave on day shifts in many departments. After AL/SL I only had 5 day shifts in my 4 month ED FY2 block. Are we not past punishing trainees for using their leave?

Just dug up my first year Anatomy handouts: it was 460 pages, of which you were expected to answer questions such as these by May. Alongside equal Physiology & Biochemistry. “Granted it’s not in quite as much detail as medical school” doesn’t even skim the surface.

#TipsForNewNurses Don’t. Piss. Off. The. Doctors. Respect their craft. Sounds insane, because it is
There is only one true #TipsForNewDoctors Don’t. Piss. Off. The. Nurses. Be humble. Ask for help. Respect their craft and they will pull you out of so many holes.

@muddy_gas_doc Having recently done A&E, the target seems to exist when your patient reaches 3:45, only between the hours of 9-5. You would be found by a clipboard wielding manager asking what is stopping you from sending the patient away in the next 15 minutes

From the abstract: “SCPs could be trained to take on more complex procedures and further strengthen the surgical workforce” Because we have a paucity of doctors wanting to enter surgical training, clearly…
Great to see publication by my ex-colleague and fellow #SCP Sarah Morris and surgeons @WalsallHcareNHS @uhbtrust in the @RCSnews #Annals Laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed by a surgical care practitioner: a review of outcomes.

@NotfromCplay @OneLondon4 You might get a discharge summary or clinic letter a few weeks after the fact if you’re lucky Unfortunately, often buried behind a lot of irrelevant information It’s handy for current medications/problems coded by GP but beyond that I find it quite unreliable for any details

"The way of the world is that we are on a budget" 😂 I've used words to this effect at 4am in A&E but probably not something I'd say in an OSCE
Who bought the medical schools? OSCEs have become one of the ways to indoctrinate future docs Don’t have the right view on PAs, & fail the station Note feedback: congrats for not staying neutral, however even using sense to reason for existence of the role is unacceptable.

“Functionally I operate and act much like a fellow or reg does on a daily basis” You can bet there are SHOs in this department stuck on the ward who would kill to get into clinic or theatre instead of this man.
Ortho PA: ‘You’ll notice this looks a lot like what a reg or fellow would do, and it is, however I’m not taking anything from the fellows or registrars’ …What about the reg or fellow that could be doing your job instead? ❌ Make it make sense ❌
